Part of the reason people say part 1 is slow is because the later parts go FUCKING WILD, so it's only slow and "small scale" in comparison to how ridiculous things get, but I think that's part of the charm: the escalation is quite gradual but the series continues to escalate in ways you didn't think were possible. If/When you get ot the end of part 6, just remember that this whole story started because some guy wanted to steal a rich guy's money, and you will laugh at how the domino effect of that just went out of control.

Okay, to explain the sub thing: it's where the memes exist, so you can more easily engage with the community. Also, a lot of names are literally copyright material, so you can hear them spoken in Japanese, while still seeing the localized names in English, which are sometimes funny. It maximizes the fun you can have watching the show. A couple of examples coming up: Dio, REO Speedwagon, Dire Staights, ACDC, Wham. The mangaka really liked western music, so he honored them by naming characters after them.

Danny the dog's death is way more gruesome in the manga. The servant does open the door of the incinerator and Danny runs out burning to death. That all happens after a pretty wholesome flashback of how Jonathan and Danny first became friends also.

Welcome to this journey! I'd like to give some fun facts: As many people have said, the JoJo manga started in 1987, and it's interesting to know that for that time (and still today) it was extremely weird that Shonen manga take place in the overseas, let alone have a non Japanese main character, since most of Shonen manga take place either in Japan or in a fantasy world. Also, just as a sugestion, going by seasons is pretty weird in JoJo since the first season is the first two Parts (that’s how we call the arcs in this series) so it gets kind of confusing, so if you want you can use the title of the Part itself instead of the season number to atract the biggest possible number of people. This Part is called "Phantom Blood"

Plenty of reactors do better, actually. No shade to Matt, pausing and commenting is far better than a lot of reactors, but certain reactors, while they may not comment often during an episode, will have full on discussions at the end. Theres people like filmbuff, a solo reactor that still manages to talk for a good 10 to 20 minutes after almost any episode of a show he watches. Then theres AutoSave who, for AoT, have had discussions of up to 2 hours or something. So yeah there are plenty of good reactors too LM are fairly solid as well.

Love it. This editing is good enough, i am surprise you don't lowering Anime volume, cause the thing with JoJo the studio are famous with their Sound Effect, which is you would notice. So i don't mind with this kinda editing. And also with the burn dog. In the manga it show explicitly the dog dying after the butler open it. So it's not because the butler not want to open it just too late and the anime didn't want to show it.

Welcome to one hell of a journey. Side effects may include: memage, emotional destruction, anger, cofusion, bizarreness, hysteria, depression, hatred and love at the same time for Dio, and overall fun. Another reason sub is the way to go is that, this is a bit of a lengthy explanation but it is *IMPORTANT* Alot of names of characters and stands (if you still dont know what a stand is it's fine dont worry for now) are named after bands and songs, however when releasing internationally they changed the names for the dub and most versions of the subtitles. For example there's a character later named Santana but in the dub they changed his name to Sanviento. Even later on there's a stand named Sticky Fingers, but in the dub they changed it to Zipper Man. I think the blu ray versions do have the correct names but i could be wrong. Either way if you cant find a version that has the correct names for subs (assuming you stick to sub, if not then it's fine your comments will tell you), you might wanna keep an ear out anytime names are said. Hope this helps in some way!

Just a heads-up, a lot of people cannot get past Part 1 because it's a bit underwhelming compared to later parts, so bear with us for 9 episodes if you find it a bit slow-paced. After Part 1, you should definitely do 2-parters since JoJo gets a bit too long after some point. Glad to see your journey on this!

Music references in this episode. Dio is named after the Heavy Metal singer Ronnie James Dio. Erina is likely named after the Beatles song Eleanor Rigby. Danny (the dog) might be named after the Loggins and Messina song Danny's Song. There are also a few Movie references in JoJo. In this episode. Dio's last name, Brando, might reference the actor Marlin Brando. Dio's father's name might reference the Italian Horror director Dario Argento. The name JoJo was chosen because Araki wanted a name that sounded similar to Steven Speilberg ( S.S. JoJo.)

@@esra3784 It's still based on preference and what people feel about it rather than facts Starting the part with filler in Part 1 then Part 3 invokes different feelings, not to mention a lot of people like the moments in Part 3 filler but are indifferent/dislike the ones in Part 1 which is why its lackluster for them Then there are people who hate Part 3 more than Part 1 so there's also that because of the filler in between in Part 3 so there's also that preference. In summary, people have different tastes 🤯

As native non-english speaker I always assumed everyone reads subtitles super fast and can follow shows no problem. But I guess it's just bc Im used to it. Since many shows werent dubbed to my own language, reading the subtitles was the norm ever since I was a child. Though nowadays I understand English so I dont need subtitles for English speaking shows anymore. But glad it made me read subtitles faster : D

One way to upload to KZbin would be to do a "timer based" reaction were you try to shoot the entire show in a single cut and save the discussion for later, and what you upload is the progress bar, the timer, and like the bottom 1/10th of the screen so people at home can follow with their own copies.

the sub is absolutely iconic if you feel like you want to watch it again watch the dub but every person owes it to themselves to see JoJos the way it is meant to be this includes Engarish, and things having the correct names (although sometimes the localized names are very funny) [a lot of characters are named after copywrited works so things need to be changed in the english release, like for example Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap becomes Filthy Acts At a Reasonable Price (which is the best loaclization name and I'm wondering if that's actually gonna be the name in the Part 7 Dub)]

Some fun facts: Originally in the manga, what Dio said to other kids to keep secret from Jojo is not his boxing technique but about firecrackers that he showed off beforehand. Am so glad you choose to watch it in Japanese just like how it's meant to be watched, *Part 1* is the weakest of all but i still enjoyed it alot & hope you'll have a great time with it too since it's only 9 episodes long🧑🏼‍🦯 You should keep in mind that the manga of JJBA started in the 80s that's why it's one of the most influential titles in Japanese media, alot of way popular Mangas that came after it were heavily influenced from JoJo like Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, One Piece etc. Am really excited to revisit the entire series with you 💪🏼

Just a small tip, it would be good to like replace the blur with transparency, and instead of like cutting everytime, there should sections where you cut it, but also sections where you just remvoe the video while still playing the audio, atleast that's what i've seen from other youtubers, but nice to see these reactions, honestly the way you analyzed the op and ed are just amazing

A lot of what happens in JoJo is more hardcore than most anime because it's based on a manga from the 80's where they cared less about censorship and all that. Also the reason it really worked when it came out was the same reason you were surprised when learning the plot. This is the kind of story that you'd see only in manga made for girls back then but he made it work in a shonen manga (manga for boys) and it probably felt very fresh to the audience of the time. Ps: first episode is like 4 chapters of the manga idk why people say it's slow lol
