This isn't a poor man's method. I even thought of doing this before I stumbled upon your video. Great job. The fancy device only makes the separation easier but like you said. Why buy it when I'll be using it occasionally. N.B: Here in Nigeria, this iron position has been used in some places to boil rice and cook noodles

Good idea and way better than a hair dryer or heat gun. I have to say tho, I can't believe the second half of the video (having remove many screens myself). That S4 glass clearly had no adhesive on it. I have never seen any glass separated from an LCD "clean as a whistle". There is ALWAYS glue residue to clean off the LCD.
@1nformatica7 жыл бұрын
Yes, no one was more surprised than me! The S4 had clearly been repaired before and the glass not stuck down. That's what happens when you get stuff off eBay and you don't know it's history!!

Totally unique ,Thumbs up! a little more to add to that would be to drill +tap a cross bar stop on the wide end ,say 1/8 thick , then taped side holes for different lcd widths , heat the lcd ,pull the wire while the the lcd is hot ( no cool down glue problems ) That would work as smooth as a babies butt!

@@1nformatica Sure. Yeah, that's also a good way to do it. Main reason why I got air gun is because I tried to change glass only on Galaxy S8, but unfortunately I failed and broke the LCD. So yeah, this repair went from like 20$ to 100$+ very fast. But it's kinda fine because that screen already had burn in.

@djmika88 жыл бұрын
Hello sir. Great idea. But I have some confusions. What is that lamination paper you have put over touch while heating? Is that common mobile lamination paper? Is it necessary to put that paper? While you're using thread to take it out of lcd then isn't touch screen belt/connector coming in way of thread and stopping thread from moving forward and maybe touch connector gets damaged?
@1nformatica8 жыл бұрын
Hi, I put ordinary clear packing tape over the broken screen to keep the small pieces of broken glass from falling out. The small broken pieces of glass are very sharp and you do not want them in your hands! The touch connector cable is usually near the top of the screen so I put the "thread" under it. It does not matter if you cut or break the cable as the new screen will come with it's own cable. Thank you for your comments.
@djmika88 жыл бұрын
ok thanks. well I noticed later you didn't separated touch screen from Lcd but removed it completely from mobile only. I hope this way also touch and lcd can be separated from each other where combos are used.

You should use dry ice next time. Place digitizer and glass cover on it and let it sit for 10 mins. This destroys the glue bond then you can carefully crack the glass of of the digitizer or slide a thin piece of plastic inbetween the digitizer and glass it will come off very easily.
@1nformatica8 жыл бұрын
