You might want to listen to the Easy Star All-Stars version - "The Dub Side of the Moon" (Dub Reggae). Their cover of "Us vs. Them" is really good. Has anyone else noticed that the bass line in "Us vs.Them" is very similar to the one in "Underture" by The Who?

When they play this live, for the first half of the album they play Wizard of Oz behind them on a screen and are dressed up as the characters. Half the “money” sound effects are beer bottles. Amazing band.

Here in the middle of Arkansas, Pink Floyd is/are musical gods! Always were and always will be. And yet, almost every bar, club and speakeasy resounds nightly, with the 'countrified' airs of the original root of rock and roll: Bluegrass, Gospel and Hank Williams/Ernest Tubbs/Margaret Whiting true Country music. Certainly not today's pop crap with a twang - - that's 'fer them wanna-be, oh don't get my truck dirty, how come that cow only has one teat, never been out of the city farmers' . Just want to say thanks for sharing this! You got my "subscribe and like" for this seriously decent cover! Well, that's my couple of coppers...I'm outta here. Got music to hear!

What qualifies this as genius is that this is not an imitation of the original, but an INTERPRETATION of the original.

Yes!! It doesn’t try to 1:1 cover it or try too hard to differentiate itself as a better or more emotional performance. It just IS.
@semireckless2 жыл бұрын
@@micahwright5901 In all fairness to Pink Floyd, DSOTM is obviously the template for Poor Man's Whisky's take on it; but PMW feel no need to slavishly duplicate it.

This is a must-hear for all Floyd fans. Whether they loved it or hated it, at best you could say they gave it a fair chance. As for myself, I loved it. I discovered it late but shared it with a friend who found it interesting. I'd also like to gather Waters and Gilmour into a room, offer them both a drink or 2, make them listen to it in its entirety and then tell them to give each other a hug! I know, good luck on that ever happening! I think all the planets will be perfectly aligned before that's even a 1% possibility!

Sometimes I imagine people just sit around, probably drinking beer or doing some kind of not-too-harmful recreational substances, thinking of all the things someone might someday search for on KZbin, then trying to create at least some of those things just so we'll all be amazed that someone's ACTUALLY DONE THAT! And then I search for a fast-pickin' bluegrass version of Ode to Joy and I'm kinda surprised I can't find it. Probably somebody somewhere has done that, but it doesn't seem to be on YT

Someone said 'Dark Side Of Moonshine', and it just had to become a bluegrass album, more or less. I like the sound effect alternatives, like the distillery, sirens and chickens. The hard part is making the slow and progressive original music with so much organ all into bluegrass. I miss an accordion. The fiddler doing most of the Gilmour solos but also most the Clare Torry part of Great Gig is a fine solution, and most likely no one in the band should try to sing it. I would probably would let the mandolin do the tremolo guitar part on Money, sorry Whisky. Mostly well done.
