Good heavens, no! A note on intertextuality - my prof taught this alongside Lawrence Durrell and the parallels with his Justine are often striking.

That sounds fascinating. I never heard Alasdair mention Lawrence Durrell's work in this context. But he was extraordinarily well read and found inspiration in an amazing range of sources, as well as being able to store and retrieve work in extraordinary detail many years after he originally read it.
