If I remember correctly, episode 4 is my favorite episode of this season. its really fun. As weird as it may seem, Kazuma and Megumin are only like 2 years apart I thin (2-3) In the flashbacks Megumin was super poor and had to scavenge for food. Yunyun had no friends. The one that kept cheering Megumin on was her little sister I believe.

I speak japanese and my mother language is somewhat close to japanese at least more relatable than any indo-european one. To me the name of crimson mages are weired and kind at the same time. They are like normal japanese names, but with some twist. In a sense of an extra letter or syllable. It makes a silly but warm, elavated feeling. With regards to darkness not Being here, the author often puts some of the main cast to the side, especially when introducing new characters, so that the situation or character has enough space to show their quirks. You'll see another good example later in the season, but also think back to how, when we met darkness--aqua did nothing that whole episode. When we met wiz, it was just aqua and Kazuma. Etc.

An old fart's perspective: First, I am not really into the whole "shipping" thing. That said, the way I see it, Darkness is that eye-candy hottie that as a teenager, shut-in, NEET, Kazuma is instantly attracted to partly because society holds women like her as the ideal. But her personality and kink drive him nuts and not in a good way. Megumin on the other hand is a slow-burn relationship. Her personality and intelligence are closer to Kazuma's. In a reality sort of way, she's the one that once they're in their 20's, he would realize how close they are. And I will just say, start paying closer attention Megumin's behavior this seaaon (especially episode 6), in the movie and season 3.

I have some thoughts (inb4 "oh brother, here we go."): Kazuma and Megumin bathing together isn't as bad as people make it out to be. While the OVA suggests sexual interaction to some degree, I think they both understand that bathing, much like hot springs, is just a place to be non-sexualized. Though it's definitely different, for Americans, I think the closest thing would be high school showers. Also, loli ig refers to a short, under-endowed female. Maybe young? Cause "lolibaba" is like a "grandma-loli"? Regardless, the connotations are not great. Lastly, can we just have adult anime women with small tibbies pls? Ones that are drawn like adults? Is that so much to ask?

Every Crimson Demon has a weird and very obnoxious way of introducing themselves, as it is part of their culture as chuunibyous. Yunyun is different as she's the only normal behaving person in their village (which is weird for them as she is unique in there), and she's embarrassed about having to do a ridiculous introduction sequence about herself, something Megumin exploits by pretending she doesn't know Yunyun every time they meet.
