A few years ago, my godfather went to the hospital during a cardiac episode, and ended up losing his leg because he had a severe allergic reaction to the pain medication he was receiving, and the staff didn’t catch it. They just kept giving him more pain medication which exacerbated the problem until finally my mom (critical care cardiologist for over 2 decades) noticed the _huge_ rash on his back. Plus he was profusely sweating and in extreme pain. None of the nurses knew what was going on until my mom pulled them into the room and was like “HEY! LOOK AT HIM!” I’m tearing up just thinking about that day. This is why you absolutely have to advocate for yourself and your loved ones. Chris - keep fighting for your health! As a nurse with a critical care background, you need to advocate for yourself because a lot of times, things unfortunately get overlooked. When you were describing your symptoms before you told us your diagnosis, I knew you were septic. If the antibiotics don't help and/or you get ill again, I recommend seeing an oncologist. I really am not trying to scare you, but it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion from a different set of eyes from a different profession. I hope that you get better and find answers before having to do that - I'm just speaking from experience. Take care! 💛
@meechmushrooms6 ай бұрын
“Just to check it off the list” The fact that the hospital basically tried pressuring Chris into undergoing unnecessary appendix surgery because it _“might”_ be the problem - instead of definitively finding the actual problem - is exactly why I don’t trust so-called professionals anymore. Anytime I’ve sought out professional service in the last 5 years, whether it’s healthcare, auto maintenance, technical support, I always end up dealing with incompetent people who barely want to do their jobs. Not to be that person, but as an adult, it’s frustrating when it seems like everywhere you go, nobody wants to do their jobs anymore. It seems like they’ll hire anybody anymore. Everything is such a needless headache. Not being taken seriously and dismissed is such a huge pet peeve, especially when it comes to receiving healthcare. If you know something is wrong with your body, advocate for yourself. Don’t take someone’s dismissive attitude or let yourself be gaslit into thinking you’re crazy. Sometimes, you have to be a Karen and stick up for yourself, especially when your health or money is on the line… nobody else will.
@kiramchale69076 ай бұрын
Also, I could be wrong but wouldn’t getting a surgery done while having sepsis be seriously dangerous ???
@meechmushrooms6 ай бұрын
@@kiramchale6907 You’re absolutely right! Imagine if he had went into sepsis during or post-op, he could’ve died. The risk of infection during surgery is already high enough… I’d hate the idea of being a Guinea pig. Poor Chris went back several times and just kept getting worse, only to be admitted once his vitals were abnormal. I know that doctors are supposed to know best, but good grief! A few years ago, my godfather went to the hospital during a cardiac episode, and ended up losing his leg because he had a severe allergic reaction to the intravenous pain medication he was receiving (if I remember correctly) and the staff didn’t catch it. They just kept giving him more pain medication which exacerbated the problem until finally my mom (critical care cardiologist for over 2 decades) noticed the _huge_ rash on his back. Sepsis is not always easy to detect, especially if the patient has been receiving antibiotics. There's no one single test for sepsis, and it's often a matter of ruling out what it's not. There are a number of other maladies that share the same symptoms. It's tempting to blame the doctors for "not wanting to do their jobs," but the fact is that there are still medical mysteries that stump even the most gifted and skilled medical diagnosticians. The media has spoiled us on the idea of a Dr. House wandering into a room and accurately diagnosing a difficult condition based upon what kind of soup you like or what direction your nose hairs grow, or whatever. It's not always cut and dried. Fortunately, they were able to detect the sepsis and treat it, but the notion that a hospital or doctor is willing to lose a patient because they just don't want to "bother" to correctly diagnose a difficult or hidden condition is a misconception.

To Chris- this exact situation happened to me years ago. I would be hunched over w crippling waves of gut pain. I had many scans and tests and no doctor could figure out what was wrong. This went on for months. They almost removed my gallbladder. One doctor stopped them right before they wheeled me away for surgery and gave me strong antibiotics instead. FINALLY after several rounds of antibiotics the gut infection went away for good. I suspect mine came from consuming raw cookie dough, as it came on a few days after doing so. However the pain came on and off for a year. The first round of antibiotics weren’t strong and weren’t as successful. The second I received got rid of it for good. So glad you’re feeling better!!

Regarding the eye tracking, my mom had passed away from ALS a few years ago and because she could no longer communicate with us we had to get a special tablet and an eye tracking device so that she could type and talk to us through the tablet. The fact that our phones can now do this with our and add on device is wiiiiilllllddd to me

After that one voicemail you guys reacted to. The "breaking up over farting." When Jerid talked about how proud he was of his farts. I about died. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Shane, it’s such a relief and mental escape that you posted today! My grandma passed on June 22 and her funeral is TODAY. I know you had a special close relationship with your grandma too and even a supernatural experience! Anyway, I’m glad to be able to see all you guys to distract from this heartache, as you are all so uplifting to me! 🕊️❤️

I just had a discussion this week with my colleagues about the Ariana Grande voice thing. The consensus is that she’s full of it. As a Speech-Language Pathologist I assess and treat voice disorders. When you speak in a higher or lower pitch other than your normal pitch it puts strain on the vocal folds. The exact opposite of helping your voice. If someone told her to do that they are wrong and it could damage her voice by creating vocal nodules or polyps.

we all know absolutely no one told her to talk like that. she just simply enjoys speaking that way. idk why so many people are blind to that fact or why its so controversial either. she likes sounding cute and dainty and it's become part of her brand. people need to get over it lol

Paris Hilton did it for DECADES… and I’ve a feeling she only does it while on camera.

@@cherrypai44but she’s been using a completely different voice recently. She goes in and out of the voice.

@@kristineteall368Paris still does it occasionally but definitely faked, I think Ariana is the same

So glad youre ok chris! I almost lost my life to full body sepsis after a botched kidney surgery a year ago! Im so glad you could recover safely and swiftly! I still struggle with the after effects now, dont be scared to take time to heal properly it is very important.

The eye tracking makes the iPhone accessible for people living with ALS, which causes paralysis to every muscle except for the eyes. It's actually a pretty cool feature.
