Had a Jayco 1207 back in the 80's and did almost all the mods to mine that you did. Raised it for better off roading. Outdoor kitchen and everything, plus a screened in porch. I was single back then and my shower was a big hit at the singles campouts our Church did. I carried a 2 seat kayak and a tandum bicycle on my homemade roof rack that were always in demand. Lots of fun memories!

I just did the shower flip mod, that is going to make life MUCH easier. I also made my own water filtration system for a fraction of the price of the clearsource system AND with better filtration metrics. I got a dewalt drill battery adapter and 12v converter so I can run the pump from a drill battery that I'll already have (a 2ah battery will filter about 120 gallons of water and can easily be recharged from my car's built in 150w inverter). Grab the tub, throw the intake hose in the water source, and either fill jugs from the flexible 3' hose or hook it to an extended hose to fill the camper directly (if close enough). Or, maybe just bring a few 5 gallon jugs of water to filter and do it at the camper straight into the camper

Lance- great stuff- love your responses to negative people- why do people care what you do or spend on your camper- Camp your way and enjoy- keep it up. I do want to get your advice on drilling holes in roof for solar gland- I can see you came in on the side where the factory wires and the tent has the wires running down- did you have any issues coming in from that point or any watch outs? Also did you drill new holes behind where the factory wires run down to storage area to fit the solar wires in?
@One2ManyHobbies3 жыл бұрын
I went through the factory gland and ran new 12g wires through the canvas and into the body of the camper coming out next to the water heater - since the 12g wire was thinker, I did drill a 2nd hole into the camper next to the hole that came from the manufacture. Rockwood ran wire but there was a couple connection points i didn't like and I wanted thicker wire. Hope this helps.

Just looked into getting one of these for my family. Hadn’t heard anything about plumbing issues. But looking at it I would imagine it’s because there’s no vents. Was that a pump on sewer lines?

@@One2ManyHobbies Which is more energy efficient, your 12v fridge or your 3-way fridge (propane+12v) while boondocking?
@One2ManyHobbies2 жыл бұрын
@@patricklacson The 12v Dometic is easier to keep the temp from freezing - the 3 way camper fridge on propane can be tricky to keep from freezing in the winter months camping when it's 30 +/- each day. I run the 3 way on propane, so it saved me power on my battery and the 12v doesn't draw that much power - that's a perk of the 12v especially in the winter months.

Im surprised you needed air bags for your pop up, mine is the larger model with a bigger deck for my dirt bikes and I've had no issues with my jeep, I enjoyed your video and actually got some good ideas for my simular pop up. I like the cook box and I'm interested in that project as the oem grill was an incredible let down, I am not sure if you experimented with your ac and generators but as a hvac guy ill tell you a cheap hard start was all it took and my ryobi inverter generator 1800 watt running load, can run my ac all day. I'm happy with my generator but I would like to add some small solar to keep everything topped off. I definitely prefer to be out of the pop up enjoying the location vs siting inside and running it all down during the day. I'm going to copy your shower door fix because that was the first major problem in mine
@One2ManyHobbies3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, glade you got some ideas for your camper. I load my truck down pretty hard, I carry a bunch of firewood, 80 qt cooler and the extra weight I added to the tongue was the reason I wanted air bags - I could have gotten away without them, but a level ride is so much smoother. I can actually run my a/c with my 2k inverter, b/c it's got a peak of 4k watts, although a soft start would really help with the start up load draw - we don't our a/c it b/c we're always winter camping. I'm working on the plumbing video now, on how I merged the shower & sink into a 3 inch drain - should be out soon.

Thanks! You could do an axle flip on your 73’. I can camp for about 4 - 5 days without any solar in the winter & probably 7+ days in the spring & fall with no heater, the heater draws a lot of amps. With some decent solar input back into the batteries - I can camp for 10+ days in the winter with the high heater draw & forever in the spring & fall. If you have leaf springs, you can do an axle flip like he said. If you have a Dexter Torflex axle, like my 86 Coleman had, you can use 2x2 blocks to lift it. If you want to go super crazy like I did, you can import a Cruisemaster independent offroad suspension and have that installed. Costs only a little more than a new axle system. But it's made for offroad and sold on some of the major offroad campers.

I've got a Rockwood 2318G so there were just the four above the sink. Did yours come with all of those loops installed or what did you use to attach them to the ceiling?
@One2ManyHobbies3 жыл бұрын
You’ll need a rivet gun & some rivets - there are some wooden braces in the ceiling - if you hit one - you’ll need to use screws in that spot. I ordered the rivets from Robert’s sales - link down below.

Was it hard to mount the solar panels on your roof?? I have 2018 Jay Series 12UD Baja edition and I'd like to get rid of my AGM battery and go lithium too one day.

What did you use to attach the tongue box to the frame of the camper?
@One2ManyHobbies Жыл бұрын
I welding a flat bar across the frame & screwed holes in it, then used bolt & nut.

@@One2ManyHobbies Thank You I’ve used a couple of your modifications, the changes save much time and the carpet add is awesome. Where could I find that style of magnet for my access panel. I had trouble with my water pipes last winter and that idea is great. I’ve been to my local Lowe’s and Home Depot. My panel is just like yours.
@One2ManyHobbies3 жыл бұрын
@@wesleycrocker7975 Awesome! Glade you're able to use some of the mods - I just got them at Home Depot, I had to use like 6 or 8 on the water heater door, since it's so heavy. I added a small strip of wood so I could screw the magnet into.

What nozzle are you using for your Spector jerry cans? I've been looking for one to hook up to mine.

It’s a Spector one, hard to find but I think I got it off Amazon.

Hi Lance, great video. I have a 2021 Rockwood HW277 and am going to install 2 100W solar panels on the roof. How did you mount the panels to the roof? Did you use VHB tape, rivets or screws? Or a combination of these? FYI, I have already made the fishing rod holder magnet mount! Thanks.
@jonmccauley64902 жыл бұрын
I mounted 2 Renogy's with sheet metal screws through their brackets and used 3M Marine 4000 UV sealant.

What’s the roughest back road you take it on? We want to be able to go into the boondocks. Thanks
@One2ManyHobbies3 жыл бұрын
Nothing crazy, some gravel forest roads that have some pot holes - I’d be careful taking any pop up truly off road - life expectancy would fall off quick the way these things are made.
