Nice haul, I had a flashback to when you kept getting sweet potatoes at the pantry .

That looks really good! I love Indian food. Butter chicken is probably one of my favorite recipes. I made a butternut squash soup a few weeks ago and put a bunch of the same seasonings in it as this entree. It tasted really Indian so it was a huge win in my book!

Great idea!! I like how Indian food takes a lot of bland food and turns it into flavorful with spices

@@SodbusterLiving I love Indian spices in general not only for the full bold flavors but also because of their beautiful bold colors!

Good evening my beautiful friend ❤ You might be able to make almond milk with the nuts and use the dates to sweeten it! My friend makes hers like that! I regrow my green onions. And when they get big and I still don't need them for a recipe I will cut them and dehydrate. Then I store in a small mason jar to use on baked potatoes!

I have yet to have more than I can use but that is the plan one day!

Good haul, some nice fill-in items. One thing I get a lot of is Manwich from food pantry. I’ve found that lentils with the manwich are really good:) You feel like you definitely are having a sloppy jo!

No thanks I don't use lentils for anything

I love lentils, quick cooking and you can make a great sandwich spread with them. Add onion, spices and chopped tomatoes. Great in toasted bread with a little Mayo.

I am not sure on the habanero peppers but on the jalapeno the heat is in the seeds. And if you wear gloves while preparing them it helps prevent from feeling the heat lol. Wow lol I was just looking at your recipes list of ingredients. There's a lot! I also have everything on the list except for the apricots. I do have some canned ones though. I wonder if you can substitute them. I am also almost positive I have lamb in one of my freezers. That was a great deal I love ground lamb!

There is a lot of ingredients, but they are also a lot of spices :) So hopefully still affordable enough and ones that are pretty handy.

@@SodbusterLiving I have a lot of spices! I had the luxury in Washington state to have a store that sold bulk items. I was able to get all sorts of spices for barely nothing! I bought spices to fill mason jars! Sometimes in the ethnic aisles you can get spices in the clear packets for a low price and sometimes they have unique spices at the dollar stores. I can tell you one thing if you take white rice you can make it taste a dozen different ways depending on what spice you add. Rice is cheap and if you lack funds spices are an easy way to make it something new to your taste buds!

We don't have pop-up food pantries in Central Illinois all ours are the same time of the month. I redonate all lentils and chickpeas. Today at our third Saturday food pantry I got a lot of different canned goods three pepperoni DiGiorno pizzas a different assortment of snacks and food the biggest thing was Propel 40 packet (10 each of four flavors) I got 24 of those boxes I will be donating some of those even though Propel and Dr Pepper are the only drinks my daughter likes also got a 24-pack of fruits shoot Berry Burst squeeze bottles 10 oz a 12-pack cool blue 12 oz bottles Gatorade. We have an organization called War Chest that I help pack boxes for also giving away on third Saturday each box has trash bags health and beauty items household cleaners and if there are any women in the household tampons and pads. Extra items that were given away great value 40 Oz 3 times ultra bottles of dish soap equate 64 oz bubble bath 21oz body wash smart care 33.8 hand sanitizer and banana boat16oz after sun gel sometimes I get depends for my mom. I pick up for five families in my neighborhood and distribute.

Yes! It meant for my family that it was good, but they wouldnt want it all the time. So it wasn't something like Tacos, or even an Indian Dahl dish that I'll be sharing in my next video. It was good, but not amazing. Does that make sense?

Grandma puts ground pork or sausage in her chili! #BecauseNoBeef Can you de-seed the habeneros and cook in something that has a creamy sauce? Maybe then you guys can take it? We all Know I couldn't!!!

Honest question, do you ever find that it cost more to make a food pantry meal work (so that everyone likes it and will eat it) for a meal?
@SodbusterLiving7 ай бұрын
I think that is why I went more towards ethnic food. In places like Africa and India, there would be recipes that worked with fewer means. I also stick to more basic recipes. I know doing a lot of variant meals can make it more palatable and tasty but... Actually, Dates! Dates was one that I tried a variety of things that ended up costing us more than just eating them plain.
