I love these videos! Can you please make more videos like this that explain complicated mechanisms like this one? You’re such an inspiring pop-up artist!

Hi Matthew, When I started watching your channel, I started one of my favorite hobbies again. I started with origami architechture and all the cards were white. Then I continued with silk painting, paper flowers, and Christmas decorations. I left everything and now I start with new ideas with your explanations and I saw a notebook that when I opened it, two circles move, one inside the other and in opposite directions. You could make a tutorial with this work. And thanks for your funny way of teaching. If all the teachers were like you, there would be more happy students :-) lol Thank you Cheers!

Can you build in a box shape with a lid that opens automatically? I'm building gift for my girl, a popup book that at the end will have an engagement ring. I thought it would be neat to put the ring inside a box that opens as she opens the page, or perhaps a manual open flap with this and everything else under it (if you understand what I mean). Maybe it's possible? I just started popups but I'm happy with what I've done so far even though I'm not artistic at all. Any thoughts? Thanks so much for these videos. They have been super helpful.

I dont know if this will help or not cause its been a dang year so you CAN do it make a basic box and use this mechanism by connects the movement peice to the lid of box and the other end to base page good luck

@ hey so I did it a different way. I made a door mechanism but turned it to its side, then put a manual lift flap over it. When she lifted the flap, it opened the “door” and pushed it up and open with the ring exposed. Simple but effective. She said yes.

Which Paper is best suitable for the construction of pop-ups? ( brand and weight )
@sorchahenderson9265 жыл бұрын
I think for practice, regular packs of cards will do. I have noticed that most of my favourite pop ups use a different paper weight, though

Sarebbe splendido se si potesse vedere alla velocita' normale, troppo veloce x una persona agli inizi. Un tutorial a questa velocita' perde il significato di tutorial. Peccato.

I could probably make a Khaby Lame pop up with this mechanism.
