This tutorial explains easy ways to add small 3D pieces to simple pop-up mechanisms in order to extend and develop designs. These extra pieces can be quite large and an obvious part of a pop-up sculpture, or they may be much smaller and work 3D pieces as a “muscle” to raise larger pop-up planes.

I found a problem, when I want to stick my. drawing in the paralel fold , it looks very difficul. To doo something “abstract” it’s quite easy

You could try sticking your drawing onto the pop-up pieces before you glue the pop-up together.

Dear teacher: I am ámese of how much I can do, with the basics. I still dream and imagine a very big pup op, I know, I know I ‘ll need engineers and as always $$$$ of course it is possible Imagine: the show opens and real people can walk around through a magical environement almost as in thather but the story comes from people that walk, talk and hide among this pup-up. It could be interesting, to bring this tecnique to great Art and the people being part of it. Each time the show opens it will be a different story.

Do you have a video about tips / fixes for how to avoid your pop ups ending up poking out of the edge of the page when it's closed? 😂 It's really ruining my ideas lol!

Quite often it's necessary to make an experimental version of a design to check the sizes and angles and to make sure that the design doesn't jut out when the base is closed - if bits do jut out then adjust the dimensions. Alternatively just use a couple of bigger pieces and glue them to the outside of the base sheet to make a cover.

Dear teacher I see you have an inch eye inch-eye, educated to make strait lines or cuts, in my speciality as a creator I need to be as near as I can with nature; and nature is never ever straight; so my envidia shut down inmediatly:))

Not sure what an "inch eye inch eye" is! In pop-up the fold lines (almost always) have to be straight.

Ojimetro,, is an expresión to say that you have an accurate eye. I thought tha to say an inch eye was = the translation of ojimetro. Well. It is not real Spanish of the Real Academia.

Thank You For all your Wonderful tutorials. I Have A Question could you make More playlists ? for example playlist video 10-20 ,video 20-30 and so on. That way It would be easier to find a specific lesson. Greetings from Ester from the Netherlands

Thank you for the suggestion. The tutorials have been added to the channel in a rather haphazard order so I have been thinking about trying to produce some sort of guide or index.

Yes - always worth experimenting - if something doesn't work you can usually pull it off quickly before the glue has set.
