Love this idea but I am having trouble actually working out how to put something on the pop up - do you have any photos of a finished card using this please. the arms on mine want to fold at right angles - not to the top.

Duncan, thank you! I’m a subscriber and as a senior citizen, I’m finally going to make pop up cards (for friends) that I’ve loved for decades. Your manner of teaching is so appealing to me because I don’t feel rushed… We had a few books by Nester, one was (a reproduction) at the zoo, and it also spread out, it was gorgeous. In about 1991, our son brought it for “show and tell” and the children loved it. We also had one where a man was shown, with a cut out for his face. There were faces on a wheel (not a pop up) that showed different expressions. This was actually very useful for teaching our son how to “read” people’s expressions. I like your channel so so much, I plan on getting your book. Thank you again.

I have been dying to find easy to read instructions (I just prefer reading vs. videos) on making pop-up cards and any I found, either the instructions were poor AND practically every single one had ads surrounding every possible square inch of the article, were pissing me off and distracting as heck. So I decided to give a search on KZbin a chance. Most of the videos were blah, but then I stumbled across this channel. ❤ YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER! ❤ I subscribed immediately after, possibly even before watching the Pop-Up Tutorial 1, when I saw all the other videos/play lists and how they were getting more advanced. I don’t subscribe to too many channels, but this one is definitely on my top 5 list! You are awesome!

@@thepop-upchannel4919 My daughter and I make a card, including a donation because he takes care of 100+ feral cats, for the drummer of a band every time they go on tour and we go to the concert. We’re going to see them on May 10th and want to make a really neat card for him and one just for the band and these videos are going to be a huge help.

Hello, what size is the bottom tab? I could not see any measurements. Is it also 4?

I finally did it. I wanted to do this idea on a 44x66cm paper so I had to place the dimensions on Sketchup and applied the "scale" tool. I learned few things in the process: 1) 3:24 don't cut the immovable piece like a rectangle. Instead cut like there's a "w" underneath just like the original folding 1:30. This design allows you slide the pieces and it's harder for them to come out 2) don't glue the pieces. Start using a tape, test it, adjust it if needed then you glue it. I lost count the amount of times I needed to adjust. 3) you want a very rigid pull strip, so fold it more times than 2. This whole thing took me 4 days. 4 days to make the prototype (original size), then tracing the dimensions on skechup and cutting the pieces, carefully glueing them together, then stopping everytime it got stuck to figure out what hapenned. I'm so glad it's over. My back hurts, I wouldn't do it again but I don't regret it.

Just discovered your channel because...algorythm. Went to buy card stock & I'm plodding along. Fantastic bit by bit clear, precise explanations. But...I'm allergic to the glue. Gives me a headache & sinuses feel attacked by needles. Using rice glue, works fine with 160gsm paper but...might not hold that long. Any suggestion of another solvent-free glue that might be more resistant over time? Thank you.

I'm not an expert on glue - you could try PVA or UHU solvent free.
