We're gonna need a full build series, gents. Mark building the mechanicals and Carl doing up the shell. Surely, Steve deserves to have a documentary of his dream car being built.

Very nice guys. Those Kyosho re-re's go together so well. Should be a straight forward build. Also, I love the Scorpion chassis/derivatives. They handle so well for what they are.

You should see their brushed motors. They're even more beautiful that they used to make.

Beautiful car! After not so much as looking at an RC car for about 25 years I recently saw they'd re-released the 80s classics. Currently building the childhood dream, the Ultima! Very much rekindled my love of RC cars and after finding your channel I've also sneaked a TT-02 past the Mrs with a view to some on road racing. Your videos are entertaining and really helpful!

I had a Mardave Mini converted to 7.2v and Mardave Cobra sport running a Green Machine 2 back in the 90s, great times 👍👍👍👍👍

I just got done building mine, it is a treat to build. The stickers are a bit of a challenge though. They are the stickiest of stickers and half of them overlap each other or go on tp of each other so I would highly suggest the soapy water method of applying them!

Kyosho really know how to do box presentation don't they?! It seems almost a shame to have to damage the packaging to build the car, but if I got one I'd definitely have to build it and race it, no doubt about that! Awesome stuff!!

Morning Gentlemen, your a lucky pair to get a kyosho Optima there such a beautiful and cool looking car. After watching the iconic off-road started to watch vids of builds. As a racer they look a bit of a pain to work on at track to access the diffs . I'm still being pulled more to the Tamiya Wild one even though bi would never take part in an iconic event , too many rules for me . Have a fun time on the build Mark.

I feel like he should have sent a Kyosho LeMans 240S esc - just to keep it all Kyosho and ‘in keeping’ with that beautiful motor. Think the blue hobbywing will look out of place.

I remember the first time I saw a Kyosho and it was a beetle. I was 14-15 years old and it was the 1980s. I just got my Tamiya Grasshopper and put a 540 motor in it. My jaw dropped when my mate took the top off the beetle. It made my grasshopper look very under engineered and cheap. The Kyosho models have always been great quality.

Why you comparing an entry level, cheap and cheerful (according to it's owners) Grasshopper to a Kyosho? By that logic when Kyosho released the Optima while Tamiya was releasing kit for hobbyist not racers, the Optima and Mid Engine Optima have always had racing in-mind.

@@dj4monie I was 14-15 years old and I was surprised how good it was. Not really comparing them as like for like.
