Hey guys, just thought I'd share a little bit on the difference between SAMRO and SAMPRA. SAMRO collects royalties on the MUSIC COMPOSITION on behalf of Authors and Publishers. SAMPRA on the other hand collects royalties on the SOUND RECORDING on behalf of Recording Artists and Record Labels whenever the songs are played. In some cases a recording artist may not be the songwriter which means that they will only be paid by SAMPRA and not SAMRO . This shows how important it is for all songwriters who are also recording artists to join both. PS: I'm not an expert or anything about music rights but I'm very passionate about helping musicians collect as many royalties as possible on their music.

SXSW had insurance their insurance policy didn't cover for "virus". Most event insurance policies don't. So a tough learning for event organizers.

SAMRO specifically collect Performance royalties for Composers and owners of the copyright in the composition. SAMPRA collect Needletime which is a Performance royaly for performers on a sound recording and the copyright owner of the sound recording which in most cases is the label. No, SAMRO is not a publisher, its members are publishers and composers.
