I think this one was a good reboot for the new trilogy, and i like that they dropped the brother/sister/paranormal aspects...he's just back to being a brutal slasher killer. This one i think has a better overall story than the next one (Halloween Kills) but i kinda prefer the atmosphere/Michael portrayal/brutality/score in 'Kills'. I think it got hated on more than it deserved.

I like this one, it’s pretty good.. I always kinda hoped that they went back and tried to explain everything as all one story. Like the bad guy from Halloween3 that made masks, kidnaps young Michael to perform a ritual to transfer his soul to Michael Myers through the Mask, like a Horcrux, or the Ring in Lord of the Rings. So after that Michael’s body is a vessel for an evil sorcerer, who is incomplete without his mask, and the Cult of Thorn are his followers trying to bring the second coming of Michael or Conal Cochran, or whoever that soul originally came from. He just stays immortal by jumping bodies and Michael Myers was the latest iteration. That could also by why he can take hits and never dies, cause he’s not really even alive. And he’s trying to transfer into another body, and that’s why he’s after Michael’s blood relatives... Kinda like a mix between Michael Myers and Chucky... That’s at least how I would write it... I wish the story went deeper into the supernatural...

If you weren't alive then and only watched it as an adult then you won't understand the terror and clastophobic atmosphere of the Halloween 2

There are so many horror films where you want people to get killed because they're annoying, or poorly written characters. This is not one of them. I always preferred Friday the 13th over this franchise until I saw this (and I regret not seeing it in theaters). "it's not a cage...it's a trap" still gives me goosebump. It was so great to see how much you enjoyed it. I can't believe I never paid attention to the fact that Judy Greer is wearing a Christmas sweater through the second half of the movie. Then again, we sleep under a Christmas bedspread year round (the pattern is really weird and I thought it was something else when I bought it- it's grey with a pink and white swirl pattern that turned out to be snowflakes and reindeer up close).

Amazing Halloween movie, but my biggest problem about this, is it ignores it's sequels but it acts like they exist reason why the characters treat it like Michael's actually haunted the town for decades lmao when he's only, in this timeline, only haunted the town for one night LOL. Imo, this movie shouldn't of ignored all the sequels if it acts like it doesn't, that's weird writing imo and confused tf out of me and my friends when we saw this in theaters. Because that kid did tell the truth when he said 'There's bigger things in the world which is a fact. One guy killing a bunch of people isn't that big of a deal in 2018 (The year this took place in).

Zombie was gonna do a trilogy, but they basically said fuck his vision of Myers (it was hot shit anyway explaining everything about Myers and leaving no mystery), let's start over. Even John Carpenter called his movies shit. I love the decomposed pumpkin coming back to life (or freshness lol) signaling the franchise is back from the dead. James Jude Courtney who plays Myers is IMO the best Myers, just surpassing Nick castle the OG Myers who is in one or two scenes (the part where he stares at laurie through the second floor bedroom mirror is Castle), also he is a super awesome dude to meet. His answer at the 40th halloween convention on how he prepares to get into the mindset to play Myers is legendary shit, the vid is up on youtube. The mask has the needle hole from the 78 movie when laurie stabs him with that long ass knitting needle, great attention to detail. This is a direct sequel to H78, It's H78, this, then Halloween kills, and the new one coming this Oct Halloween Ends. They wanted to keep H81 in the timeline, and the only reason they got rid of it is because it makes then siblings which Carpenter has aid it was one of his biggest mistakes he done on any movie he's made. It's scarier if it's just some girl he picked to fuck with. No loomis, this doc is like the loomis understudy who took over when loomis died. People always act shocked he killed a kid, he is supposed to be pure evil, a nothing, no emotions, morals, ethics or anything that can be construed as human. He thought about killing the baby. When he bumps into those kids, is the beginning of a 3-4 minute one continuous shot. Laurie's bedroom where she had all those mannequins was modeled after the bedroom in H78 when loomis shoots Myers out the balcony, Look at the layout. They were gonna recreate the end of the 78 movie to explain how myers got caught, but Carpenter told then not to do that it shows him in a moment of weakness, and that fans would hate it. They waited until the recent movie to do the flashback. Overall it was good, and a success in that it didn't come out like trash like most horror reboots.

Honestly my jury is still not in with this film. I like it but there’s stuff I just couldn’t be bothered with. I suppose its a re-sequel as it retcons/ignores everything after the first film(not a bad idea)so it’s a sequel whilst also rebooting the series 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's all just opinion at the end of the day and I'm of the opinion that the brother/sister angle was more interesting and made more sense. Having him have a motive or connection makes him stand out from other slasher films, it enriched his mythology and background. Keep in mind, the creators of these movies aren't always in the right, take for example Stephen King: He hates Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, does that mean Kubrick's Shining is bad or shouldn't have been made? No, not at all. King prefers The Shining tv mini-series over Kubrick's version which I think is absolutely crazy but that's his opinion. Look what Ridley Scott did with the Alien series when he did his prequels, the franchise is a total mess now and the prequels are still unfinished, and he directed the first Alien! That just shows you they're not always correct. Also, most Halloween fans still prefer the brother/sister storyline, and those films came first, not this newer trilogy. I'm not saying these newer films are bad but they're not the end all be all; I see them as an alternate storyline to the original film's timeline (even that was changed when H20 came out so 2018 isn't the first time they did it) and so far, we have 3 timelines now in the OG franchise, so question is: which one is the true cannon to the original movie?

I completely 100% agree it's storytelling is so bad it makes zero sense. I mean forty years ago Michael Myers killed five people that makes him a legendary killer. His mask is even legendary and he's drown to it even tho 40 years ago. He stolen a random mask and only wore it for a couple of hours. Why would he have any emotional attachment to the mask and how does that make it legendary. Then you have his new doctor an the reporters or podcasters saying they know what Michael Myers is thinking of he's thinking of Lori. When they have zero evidence or proof to verify it but thats what hes thinking about. That makes no sense they don't know what he's thing about so they don't know he's thinking. About her but they say hes thinking about her like they know it for a fact. Then when Michael Myers does get out when he does see her. Then she shoots him in the back he just looks at her. Then he turns around and walks away so clearly he doesn't care about her in the least. So he was never thinking about her in the least. I mean they literally have to have a character nock Michael Myers unconscious with a car. Then literally and figuratively technically drive him to her front door. Before Michael Myers tries to kill her again and that's probably because it's the only house around. Because as the rest of the movie shows Michael Myers is perfectly happy walking around Haddonfield killing random people. So they literally and figuratively have to force Michael Myers and Laurie Strode together. In order for them to Face Off this is truly horrible story writing. It is literally a forced story plot they say hes thinking about her but show he really doesn't care about her. So they practically knock him out then kidnap him and take him to her house in order to force him to go after her. I cant see how anyone can like a story plot that's so bad. The saddest part is John Carpenter approved of it. I no longer trust John Carpenter and his story writing capabilitys because of this movie. Then about Halloween kills I have no idea I had no interest after seeing. This horrible forced Story plot that made zero sense. I did not see Halloween kills I'm not going to watch Halloween ends. This movie officially kill this movie franchise for me. I won't waste my time even watching people react to Halloween kills or any future Halloween movies.

Its horrible and bad storytelling all around. Because you have multiple people other than Lori Strode. Going around talking about how Michael Myers is only fixated on killing her. When he literally and figuratively shows no interest in her whatsoever. Even after she shoots him in the street he just turns an walks away. The only time he goes after her is after he is literally and figuratively. Hit buy a car and knocked unconscious then practically driven to her front door. Whare her house is the only house around for miles. So it forces him to go to her house he probably doesn't even know it's her house or cares. This movie fucking sucked. It's a watered down reboot of H20 with alot of bullshit fanfare. And Halloween Kills? They brought back a bunch of characters who should have died in '78 along with this crappy franchise. In regards to these putrid, uninspired flicks, being "direct sequel to the original, let me wake you people up...they're ALL direct sequels to the original. Same masks, same chainsaws/knives and same, annoying and disposable characters. As a matter of fact, the ONLY sequel in this franchise is "Season of the Witch". They ripped of Sarah Connor and replaced Linda Hamilton with Laurie Strode.
