This movie is nuts. From what I understand, Grandma was the head of the cult and they needed a human male host specifically from her family for Paimon. When Annie had Peter, she had taken Peter away and cut all contact with her mother. I don’t think Annie knew anything about this cult, but had a bad relationship with her mom. When Charlie was born, they reconciled and Grandma gave Paimon Charlie’s body, even though he preferred a male host. When Charlie died, Paimon was still hanging around the family and he was in that blue light that would occasionally flash. When Steve caught on fire, Annie finally became so out of her mind that Paimon was able to jump into her body. The cult & Paimon still wanted Peter though, so when Paimon killed Annie’s body in the attic (by possessing her and cutting off her head) and then Peter jumped out of the window and was unconscious, Paimon finally took over Peter. It is truly a sad, messed up situation

Toni is awesome in everything she does. She's so believable it doesn't feel like an actor stepping into a role, she makes me believe it. I feel emotions I don't want to feel but feel them anyway and it makes my soul hurt but I can't look away. I feel like I need therapy after I go through the rollercoaster she puts me through. It's a love hate relationship but she's awesome.

As soon as the mom met that crazy lady then she pops up coincidentally at the mini mall I knew she was trying to manipulate the mother. When the mother told the husband she knew what was going on and he had to trust her mother felt she was being honest. She found out in the attic about their family history and would prefer her son dead than have him turn into some kind of antichrist or evil leader. The only question I have is if the occult members have supernatural powers that manifested itself in the human world or was it just the ability to make people see things in a supernatural realm? I ask this because everything was pretty much things and people the mother snd son would only see, nothing physically evident just visual. Except for the mother catching fire snd then eventually the father catching fire snd burning to death. The mother said she somehow had a link to the book, then how did the father catch fire?

This one is pure misery & dread like a true horror should be (or psychological horror). I believe he said this was his family drama but he enjoys adding these horror elements to it. I personally believe it's to bring out the extreme emotions out of the great actors/ actresses he chooses. What a fucking movie but sadly it's still not appreciated by casual horror fans. I wish it was because it would encourage the movie industry to give us more films w/ directors who care about their craft. If you listen carefully to the lecture during one of the classroom scenes the teacher speaks on "fate" which this movie is centered around. Definitely in my top 5 modern horror films it still sticks with me.
