For those of you who haven't picked up a bible in a minute, the irony to "St. Peter knowing what sex is" is that dude is literally mentioned in the gospels to have a mother in law and therefore at some point a wife. St. Peter is technically the only pope who was /supposed/ to know what sex was.
@daviddavis48852 ай бұрын
It’s truly incredible the number of people who think Christians are anti-sex lol Maybe some Protestants are, but as anyone who knows a large Catholic family can attest, us Catholics are **extremely** pro-sex 🤣 The only requirement is that you be married and only have sex with your wife, which really isn’t that big of an ask.

This is an interesting perspective on the medieval papacy i haven't heard before. Granted I know practically nothing about it, but it really helps to understand just how medieval history transitioned us between the time of Rome and the Renaissance. I've long heard the medieval period was not a "dark age" but a progression of the classical period with a comparable amount of innovations to the empires before it and the enlightened states after it, and I hope yall go into more of what exactly happened in this period to provide context to the dark ages narrative.

The mediaeval period was not a dark age. The immediate fall of the western Empire was not a dark age. The Arab conquest era and then the failure of the Carolingians to unite the west, on the other hand, should count (and the Vikings didn't help).

Really appreciate this. I dug into the "Pornocracy" before and was also frustrated by how unreliable our most prominent source was. Thank you for cutting through the noise and getting to the facts, as best as we can figure.

Ohhhhh so this is basically what would have happened to Justinian’s reign if Procopius’ Secret History became the main primary source for the Byzantine empire during that time
