With so many struggling single mothers who face the horrible choice of abortion, why can we not make it easier to adopt the orphan? The legality of surrogacy is debatable, if the pregnant mother decides to keep her child, the prospective parents can sue her but so what? They dont have a child. Relaxing the financial requirements for adoption would motivate more loving, caring people to adopt. A child need not be kept in luxury to be happy. Sharing a room with a sibling, eating humble but nourishing food, second hand clothes that are clean and in good repair, are sufficient to make a happy healthy child if he has love and guidance.

As an atheist I would probably agree with you on almost everything regarding religion and it’s not often that agree with the catholic church. However there are plenty better options than to produce more babies for profit in an already overcrowded world when we could provide a better life for existing orphaned children in need, don’t you agree?

*Does the pope even realize why surrogacy exists?!* Does he realize millions of children would have never been born without surrogacy? *All countries should have decent laws about altruistic (not commercial)* *surrogacy* that make sure only the medical costs of fertilization, pregnancy and birth are paid for. Many hetro-couples can't have children due to *medical reasons* (woman has no good egg cells, woman has good egg cells, but has medical issues that make carrying a baby (full term) impossible, woman has to take/follow meds/therapy that could harm the unborn baby etc.) *Often the egg cells of the wishing (natural) mother are* *used and not the eggs of the surrogate mam.*
