Pope Paul VI arrives via DC8 Jet at Kingsford Smith Airport, the first visit of a reigning Pontiff. He is greeted by Gov. General Sir PAUL HASLUCK and Lady Hasluck, followed by N.S.W. State Governor Sir RODEN CUTLER. Australia's Archbishop Cardinal Sir NORMAN GILROY and other Church leaders greet the Pope. Prime Minister JOHN GORTON makes speech of welcome. 4000 members of the Roman Catholic religious Orders gathers for Mass celebrated by the Holy Father at Sydney's St. Mary's Cathedral. Applause greets him as he moved down the aide. Cardinal GILROY welcomed the Pope to the Cathedral. The next day His Holiness took a boat trip on Sydney Harbour aboard the launch "Capt. Philip". Randwick Racecourse is the scene of the largest gathering's in Australia's history where the Holy Father celebrated the Bi-Centenary commemorative Mass. 300-strong choir sang "The Song of the Church". Large crowds gathered whereever he went and he moved amongst them at every opportunity.
