I saw once a fisherman swimming in the Mediterranean with wide exaggerated arm strokes, nearly whole upper body out of the water and with an asymmetric rhythm... of course it contradicted all what was taught in swimming then..today I am so surprised to see some elements of it becoming the norm for champions.

The wide stroke is easier on the shoulder system this reducing fatigue - he decellerates more gracefully than his competitors

Probably as efficient a swimmer as there has ever been. Very thin and buoyant then his catch is as good as anyone if not the best . From his fingertips to his elbow is all one surface holding the water.
