After 16 years of Olympic Swimming Michael Phelps still has the momentum at this sport that is incredible he could win more Gold Medals in 2016 Rio Olympics in August.
Michael lost a lot of weight in the past year and is so much lighter in the water, which drastically helps in swimming. Muscles are nice and everything, but it can go against you if you have too much muscle than you should.

+Garil M20 but even those guys aren't insanely huge. In the swimming big world yes, but next to an American football player, not even close

Kyle Shadeck+ But swimmers are yet a TON stronger than a mediocre football player! Dare you to try to survive a 2 hour 8000 meter practice day!
Haha Phelps had his own world championship in the US, while the other swimmers were losing their time over in Kazan. They better get started practicing for Rio XD.
@Saiputera8 жыл бұрын
I know right who the fuck even care about Kazan. Olympic is the big deal!
just a reminder that the GOAT swam the 3 top spot in the world in 2015: 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM all faster than the winning time at the world champs in Kazan

Its been 4 years and since then many of his records fell. But his legacy will not be tarnished!

Legacy has nothing to do with records you set being broken, that is what records are _for_ Records are to be broken. Legacy is owning records for others to break.

@@CarlsCozyCorner right and I don’t think they’ll ever be another swimmer who will be as famous as Michael. This is coming from a non swimmer. I can’t name another swimmer lol.
in rio i hope he doesn't turn to look at his time until AFTER he finishes lol

What I don't get is how he seems to have lost more than .75 seconds in the last lane on Ryan Lochte's WR. After all, he was on world record pace at the 150m point.
More than a second faster on Ryan Lochte's world championship gold medal of 1:55:81! Why didn't Micheal swim this?

Question is, was the DUI a good thing to happen so he could get into rehab/councelling and focus away from the glitz of the worlds?
@davidthomas36198 жыл бұрын
bumrusherer1985 Sorry i think you misunderstood my comment. The fact that he had to take a break, get rehab and miss the worlds meant that he was able to solve the ongoing problem with drinking etc. This meant he could focus more on the swimming and staying top shape. I suspect a lot of his weight gain after 2012 was down to drinking, not exercising (golf doesnt count), and eating like an olympian

Obviously Michael was holding back in the last lap as he didn't want to break the world record here. I don't think under any circumstances he can slower than Lochte in the freestyle.
@enricoquaini37048 жыл бұрын
I agree
@armwrestlingprofessor5 жыл бұрын
Lochte had a really good freestyle leg the time he set that world record. He was versing Phelps in that race (who also set a personal best time) and Lochte STILL pulled away in the freestyle. It was an incredible race by Lochte
Lol I swim at that pool everyday except Sundays and I saw him swim too and I was in the back where they take all there stuff and he was like 2 inches away from me

If he really was under world record pace after the breast stroke, den he must have lost almoust a second in the freestyle. I wonder if he could have broken the world record in this race when he knew the time after 150 meter?
@michaeldressler94538 жыл бұрын
After watching this swim, he can definitely get this record
@cameronearls64973 жыл бұрын
Damn If he was under WR pace even through the breaststroke, he must have died a lot on the freestyle. Still an epic swim though, just wish he could have retired with the WR
