For my last Halloween special doll repaint project I've decided to make Cruella De Vil from the 101 Dalmatian movie. I will give her iconic black and white hair, a wide smile and the legendary white fur coat! :-)

Thats why I didnt use any greens for mine lol😅either too christmas-y or joker-y. I used smoky white to black eyeshaddow. Cruella also canonically has green eyes. The eyes of mine are blue, to reflect a bit of Meryl Streeps interpretation. But Hazel eyes, like Poppen's version, is a pretty good idea!🤔😄

I am curious to know how you decide on how to redo the hair. Sometimes you re-root, sometimes make a wig, or glue on strips or the hair itself...How do you determine what will work best? Same here! I came to the conclusion that when she wants to give rather wild/voluminous hair, she prefers to not re-root, as the wool already has the desired texture. Now, why -- since a few repaints already -- she rather glues the hair directly to the doll's head instead of creating a wig as she used to, I would be really curious to know! :D Fantastic repaint as always, Poppen! While we here waiting for Marina's reply, I will make an assumption that : -rerooting is used to make long hair with lots of volume - direct gluing of yarn - for short and minimalistik haircuts (as yarn is thinner than artificial hair and gives good "skull-coverage" whereas rerooted hair of same lenght would just stick out to all directions - wig for complicated hairdos, which incorporate hair layed in different directions, but not too volumous (like Sailor Moon "buns"). Sorry for my english)

This awesome doll customization reminded me of another Disney villain who would be interesting and stunning as a doll! Mother Gothel! The perfect doll for her is of course Headmistress Bloodgood, who is the only doll with an older type body! Because as much as i love the other MH dolls, a little change in the body type is always good!

I love her! Cruella is such an iconic Disney villain. I agree with you about her story being unforgivable. Poor puppies! What did they ever do to her! Haha. Even the television series Once Upon a Time made her one of the few villains/characters who was not given any empathic retelling or redemption arc. My favourite quote from her on that series is, "Some people struggle not to be drawn into the darkness. But ever since I was a little girl I've said, 'Why not splash in and have fun!" What a deliciously evil line. You did a wonderful job as usual. Your vision is truly remarkable and I just adore your work.

It's very hard rescuing animals. Some that I've rescued are too ill (people poison them) and don't make it but I give them comfort and they aren't alone. Luckily, I haven't have any more than 2 animals pass away. I work hard to make sure they are all properly taken care of. Animals are my life!

You know what I really adore about this project is that you somehow made her a younger version of herself. I mean the iconic Cruella that we know is a really eccentric but very elegantly dressed woman but she also seems like her youth and beauty years are long gone by that point since she is all skinny with her cheekbones popping out of her face etc and she looks like one of those women that might have been a great beauty in her youth and still won't get used to the fact that she will not be as beautiful from now on and she tries to cover that with elegant clothes and exessive makeup. What I like about the doll is that while you do make that high cheekbones-detail excellent with her makeup, her cheeks are still fleshy and more lively so somehow she looks really close at how she would have been if she were younger (and many women turn gray really early so maybe Cruella was one of them, I mean her mental state does point out she gets...let's say...anxious a lot. Anyways both the fleshy cheeks as well as the difference of her makeup (adding purple to the shadow and not only green) makes Cruella a lot more like a younger version of herself, how she might have looked if she were like ten or twenty years younger. I mean I am not sure what year 101 dalmatians is supposed to be taken place, I would take a guess that it represents the year it was made so, it was somewhere in the 50s so that wouldn't be so unheard of if Cruella had been a flapper or something at the 20s when she is younger and the really smoky eyes or the exsessive makeup was really a thing back then. Somehow indeed imagining a young Cruella with exactly the same unstable mental state is even more of a dangerous image, taking under consideration she wouldn't be only crazy but also young and vigorous. Really beautiful makeovers for dolls!

You know, I'm going to be honest. I do have items made from animal skins and furs. I have a family friend who is Ojibway, so the animals were eaten and little was wasted from the carcasses. I don't consider fur unethical as long as the animal isn't raised solely to become a coat (like foxes and minks at fur farms).

I don't think any heat is needed to put it back on because of how the neck piece "hooks" are placed. I might be wrong, tho 🤷‍♀️
