I kinda like both versions. The speech in the final feels really ominous and mysterious, yet isn't as interesting or as dense as the proto. The proto answers a lot of questions and has more to it, but is really blunt with answering things, and tbh, I think I would have been disappointed if this was the final only because of how bland the answers come off in this version.

Poppy's speech in the end is just way better then what they used in the final and definitely doesn't make it sound like "haha evil betrayal goes brr" but more like she needs help before escaping from the place to set things right and it also would have been a way better way of building up trust in her for an eventual TRUE betrayal in the future

I actually love the prototype ending a lot more. It makes Poppy seem more of an ally than a villain. It makes me wonder if they made the change because of theory videos online. Matpat did talk about how his theories ended up changing certain games in development, and I do believe that he called out that Poppy would be the true villain.

I think the original plan for Mommy Long Legs' death was to have her crushed head-first instead of leaving half of her torso after the grinder does it's thing. There's a storyboard animatic uploaded on KZbin that shows what was going to happen and it kinda lines up with the early animation seen in this... proto dev build? Either way, Mommy Long Legs' death is *still* gruesome but it's most likely if the animation was finished when she says "He'll make me part of him" it wouldn't make much sense if she was completely crushed and turned into pink and red paste. We know The Prototype dismantled several objects in its room but considering we don't see it here there's a high chance we would've either seen it in a *much later* chapter or there would've been a scene where we see The Prototype either dismantle the grinder and take the remains of Mommy Long Legs or straight up take the grinder itself. At this point all we can do is speculate about what the devs were thinking for this chapter.

I just assumed the grinder was somehow hooked up to the prototype. From what we can see it looks like the prototype is more machine than organic so it would make sense if instead of eating like an animal it instead needed a paste to be directly injected.

One of the most interesting changes for me was in Pugapillar’s mini-game it plays Caretakers “A burning memory” instead of the original track Poppy Playtime has, now I had watched a play through of Poppy Playtime before playing and didn’t realize I was playing the prototype so hearing the music shook me to my core.

@@toffe5729 This could actually be a bit bad for them. Shesez (Boundry Break) found out that a manga read by one of the fighters in the Wii Punch Out game had an actual panel from Sailor Moon in it. Normally you couldn't actually see it and of course it was very low quality but after he found it the company that made the game supposedly had to pay 1 to 2 million dollars in fines (some things aren't quite clear and it seems Nintendo may have proactively made them pay).

I feel like the ending line from the Prototype Build would make for a far better story than the one from the Finished build, I do like the cameo of the "Prototype" at the end of the finished build's version of Poppy's dialogue, and if that was just placed at the end of the Prototype Build's line, it would make for the best "to be continued" monologue possible, as it makes Poppy more trustworthy, so either you're not mistrusting of her without reason, or you're more trusting of her when the backstab happens. All and all, I think Poppy Playtime chapter 2 has some missed potential, but with all that it HAS done, I think it more than deserves a pass. Can't wait to watch this game become so dark that it becomes the creepiest, and darkest horror game yet, despite it's cartoony facade.

Its kind of crazy to see how much has changed, and that poppy dialogue is one of the most interesting changes in any game I've ever seen. I think there was a prototype VHS of the green hand tutorial that was slightly different. It showed the green hand having a 10 second timer on it, which isn't there in the final game, and the door that the VHS dummy thing gets crushed by has multiple layers, and the leaking blood from the door is far more obvious. Also, "It's just a burning memory" plays in the background of it, most likely as a placeholder.

I do like the prototype ending as the real ending, since i think isn't it to early for poppy to betrayed us, it's only chapter 2 we barely know her, other games put that betrayal thing in the end to make it more hurtful and give more impact to the players, but what i feel when she betrayed us is just "oh that's it" and "i already expect it"
