Someone said that Mommy killed Bunzo after the Musical Memory and the little Huggies after the Whack-A-Wuggy. There's is this horrible noise soon after you leave the games and you can see the victims in her web above the train station. If that's so, then she's not very protective of them even thought she should be.

Am I the only one with such a dark logic who think he didn’t start experimenting about resurrection after he lost his daughter, but instead started experiment, when see his daughter as the perfect candidate for a experiment, and kill her on purpose because he was so convinced he can bring her back ? I'm sticking with my theory that 1006 is behind the letter that brought you to the facility. I'm glad you agree with the whole "can the soul/intelligence transfer procedure be reversed". If 1006 is as smart as the second tape says, that it's highly probable that it figured out that there was another former employee of the company that it could then lure back to the factory. However, I believe it's 1006 *VS.* Poppy. I don't think Poppy was aware of 1006's existence at the beginning of Chapter 2. Heck, she might not have even known what happened to the facility until she was grabbed by Mommy and dragged through the place. She may have become aware of 1006's existence either through Mommy telling her (she does seem to like to talk a lot), or perhaps even meeting 1006 in person (as we know that 1006 is roaming freely around the facility). Poppy's appears to be smart enough to conclude that 1006 is probably the reason for the facility's current state and that he can't continue to exist - not to mention, 1006 is now competition for your body (which could explain why he kept her in the case). You also forget that after the "You're too perfect to lose" quote, *something* catches her attention and cuts off the transmission. I mentioned this in your Playthough Part 2, but I think Poppy was ambushed by 1006, and with his penchant of taking usable body parts, and the video of Poppy's voice box being removed, that Poppy has just been murdered and we're not going to see her again. We will, however hear "her" voice, manipulating us to continue making our way to the area where the procedure will take place.

Very nice theory! I agree with you that it could be 1006 who wrote the letter, his fingers seem too thin and shiny so grabbing a pen might be a hard task for him, hence the handwriting being that of a child. However if he did write that, are the misspellings intentional or not? The scientist did mention he was highly intelligent so misspellings are unlikely for something like him.

Just gonna drop this in here, but a few interesting points I've noticed: 1) NO toys escaped in 10 years. Admittedly all the smaller ones looked like the ripper visited, but no toy escaped to our knowledge. This means that the upper level is either A) bizarrely secure in that no-one without a key could leave (even by simply ramming a grate repeatedly for 10 years), or B) Huggy, or something else actively hunted any toy trying to leave. 2) no purchased toys left a message, or revealed their origin. Those 2 may simply be plot holes, as it is not uncommon for horror stories to exist in a vacuum with the more far reaching effects simply being ignored. However Poppy asked us to trust her, she never got to finish saying why, but I believe; had everything gone according to plan, she may have actually allowed us to leave. But changed her mind as you suggest. I simply don't believe they'll take the body swap/possession finish.

The smaller toys do really intrigue me - the fact that they're full of blood is bizarre to say the least, as it implies they have been experimented on but we've not seen anything that implies what they would be like alive, because they're all dead. We know people did leave with toys because of the whole build a bear style 'no one leaves without a toy' room and poster - and although it's possible no one actually managed to leave with their toy, I'm sure people would have smelled a rat if nobody who went on the factory tours returned. So who's to say there aren't living toys out there who know what's good for them and just pull a toy story? I think I'd be happy to be out of the factory if I was them, but who knows. It would be interesting to see how the little ones operate maybe further on in the game - I can TOTALLY see us turning a corner to a million little cattbees or something. That would be scary.

I’d like to think we’re the finalization of 1006, the prototype of 1006 is quite literally the prototype. There’s always a prototype before the final product. We can back this is up considering the scientist always refer to the prototype as just the prototype and not 1006 all the other experiments they refer to, they refer to them as their experiment number. Another thing to consider is our player hasn’t had to eat, sleep, and has enhanced thinking. Maybe that’s why kissy miss recognized us. I also believe we’re trying to get the staff out of dolls. I think that’s why the spelling mistakes were there as well. OR it could be we’re saving the children from them, you could argue the children are “staff”. So maybe that also explains the spelling mistakes.

Poppy also never referred to mommy - she asks 'Did you kill her?' Where she could say Mommy - which if she did, it would definitely change our theory completely because the name mommy is deeply linked to mommy as her role, being a mother. But it seems Poppy doesn't see Mommy as a mother by choosing not to refer to her by name, almost as if she was a waste of space that needed to be disposed of. It's interesting too then that later she talks about another woman who poppy says "She locked me away". There's limited people that could refer to...

See I was wondering this as well. I thought at first that maybe it was because she wanted the player to be killed by the other toys, but then it wouldn't fit with her wanting to use the player and essentially possess their body. And I don't think she would've known the player from being an employee, seeing as his the player hasn't worked there in 10 years and the first Poppy doll came out in 1950. So how does she know about the player enough to send them a letter. I guess she could've just hacked the database or just seen how the player was as an employee and managed to get their contact info. Idk.

Honestly I'm hoping Poppy isn't just the big bad in this whole story. If she controls the player and uses them that's fine, but I'd like to see her not be a boss fight or at least die to you in some sense. It just feels... too expected, you know? It'd make for a very unsatisfying ending.

Theory idea: Since all the cardboard cutouts have a static creepy voice in the end, it could provide some clues about the experiment's effect on the toys or something regarding the lore.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but wouldn’t Poppy being locked in the box mean that she may not have known about 1006? 🤔 If so maybe 1006 is corrupting Poppy without her knowledge, making her change her attitude to the player at the end?

If we go along with the theory that Poppy is the one speaking to us in the death screens, where we're locked away in a sort of stasis until the game starts up again - isn't it maybe possible that 1006 could do the same? I don't know, but it's very possible 1006 could have been talking to Poppy promising her that one day she would be free and slowly getting her on side. I think that's the strangest detail that we can supposedly hear anyone by death screen when we die, but could be something to think more deeply about.

Crazy theory but it kinda makes sense. What if Poppy's soul is aging while she isn't in her cage anymore? Like after we freed her she had a conscience that there is a evil presence in the building but she doesn't know what it is (Referring to 1006 as the evil presence). While sensing that evilness, she is starting to understand how she was brought to life as a doll and the other dolls having souls per say in them also (both the age of adult and children). Also, what if Poppy is aging in her conscience? Like she is being exposed to the negative energy of 1006, the dead dolls, blood, etc in the factory and her basically becoming more mature and aggressive about what she is starting to understand about the factories dark past (experiments with the dead adults/children, possibly teenagers, and connection with the dolls)

Also at 7:25 you say she can’t even escape from Mommy Long Leg’s webbing, to be fair, silk is 5 times stronger than steel, and we should give some credit to Poppy since even though silk is 5 times stronger than steel, she was still able to at least move the webbing. We also know Poppy does have some kind of strength because we don’t know who else blocked us from going back to Chapter 1 besides Poppy, and we don’t know who else that pushed the wardrobe (or closet, I don’t know) that gave us access to the rest of chapter besides, Poppy. ( I know silk is 5 times stronger than steel from Goji Center, on their Mothra vs Queen MUTO video )

7:37 One creepy element they added that not many people seem to notice to make these characters more creepy is that they turn their heads in the direction you move and keep their eyes locked on you. If you move from left to right their eyes and heads are focused on your direction.

I have a theory of why poppy said “you are perfect, to perfect to lose” and “capable” Since the testing is underground and she changes the train course to head under ground. Her plan could be to turn you into a toy as well. It could be that she got information of the mini games from test 006, if she is working with him. She also doesn’t say anything about wanting to leave the factory, she only said she wanted to leave her case. She probably wants you to suffer just like she did by turning you into a toy. Hey Tericho! I left this comment on a superhorrorbro video but was wondering what you thought of a really off chance theory I had ( I don't think this theory is the case but I thought it was an interesting idea ) Here's a small theory, that could be completely off. But are we sure that the spirit inhabiting Huggy was human? Because the tapes talk about an experiment with a rat. I don't really get the feeling that Huggy was naturally violent, as it states he was very obedient, and intelligent. These are also characteristics which can describe a pet. Huggy also doesn't speak, the small Huggies growl during the whack a wuggy segment. His mannerisms and movements give off more of the vibe of a well trained guard dog, then a human being. But that's just a theory. A game theory.

It's entirely possible. His "screech" could also back this up. But then it doesn't explain why he seems to stalk us around the factory. Rats generally run away from humans. We also hear about his "obedience". So it's possible, and I like the theory, but I am not sure.

@@Tericho Obedient made me think that after the rat experience, the company maybe tried using a dog or even maybe pig before jumping from rats to humans. Actually, rats, dogs, pigs, ect are all animals that are considered intelligent and can be trained!

@@Tericho Well rats are actually fairly easy to train. I had a friend who had them as pets. They are also extremely motivated by food. Maybe Huggy thought we had some with us. Only the prototype has been observed not to need food or sleep like the others according to the tapes.

Thinking of the kinds of animals often used in animal testing (rats, dogs, pigs, monkeys, etc), there's the possibility that both Huggy and Missy are of nonhuman origin. Might be another reason that Missy's hand didn't work at first when she pulled the lever - perhaps her hand used to be a trotter or something.

Hm, interesting theory, though while i think assuming Poppy is plotting something nefarious is a little jumping the gun, for all we know it could be possible, so we just have to wait and see. By the way, Tericho? Do you know about the Cut Version of Poppy’s ending dialogue? Apparently they thought that the original take of the ending dialogue was a little to spoilery, so they cut it down and altered it a bit.

the easiest way that she could leave the factory without changing forms is if she simply asks if we can take her home with us. it's more likely that poppy wants us to put an end to all the madness in this factory because that's the only thing she could mean when she outright said "we'll set things right" you still need to explain how that sentence could mean anything sinister and then your own theory will also be entirely possible

I noticed one important thing after watching this video. There were two entities that controlled the train at the end of chapter 2. Poppy had the control of the train that steered the train to another direction. And there was another entity (perhaps Prototype 1006) that freaked Poppy out and also killed the train's speed control. I think Poppy at her current state during the end of chapter 2 doesn't know the existance of the villain (Prototype 1006). Assuming that Prototype 1006 is the villain and assuming that Poppy is that villain's agent, then Poppy would lead the player to the death early in chapter 2. I think Mommy Long Legs hated Poppy as Poppy was likely a worker/staff of the factory. My take on this is that there is a much bigger villain that would dwarf Prototype 1006. If you think about it, Prototype 1006 is also the victim of the menacing scientists. We don't know the whole gist of the factory and the internal sqabbles within it. I think based on the flow of the story we, the player, could be worse than Prototype 1006 in the long run.

When Mommy Long Legs was killed, Prototype 1006 had the chance of killing the player by isolating the whole tiny room. Why didn't it kill the player? I played this game 3 times already. It feels like how chapter 1 was about testing the player to find Poppy by 1006's intervention (Huggy Wuggy), the next chapter was 1006 observing the player whether he/she could defeat an experimental abomination called Mommy Long Legs. I want to add this. The creators of Poppy Playtime do a very good job at obscuring the whole nature of the main antagonist(s) in the story. This keeps the momentum of wanting more easter eggs for anybody enjoying this franchise.

@@kimandre336 I think that Mommy hid Poppy away because she knew that 1006 wanted Poppy for some reason and Mommy used this as leverage over 1006. Now that Poppy is out and Mommy is dead, 1006 could go after Mommy and Poppy so it was a win-win for 1006 that the player has come around.

I think reason Poppy didn't know about other experiments could be that she was locked when they were created. She was the first one to be created, or at least the first successful one, so it is actually possible that she was locked before they were created, maybe she was locked because she tried to stop scientists from creating them.

I think we need another look at the children's drawings maybe, because I believe that there was one with a kid and poppy playing but I think another of the toys too? It's kind of established that the kids hung around the living toys, particularly the orphans, but I'm not sure about Poppy. That's a good point that she just may not have known what was going on, but I think she must have been out of the case at some point because she said she'd been in it for so long, specifically rather than she's never been out the case. If she's never been out then she wouldn't know what she was missing by being in the case? I don't know. But I think you're right a timeline of sorts seems crucial to unpicking the lore!

I'm pretty sure it's about transmogrification we are dealing with here, we see that Huggy Wuggy did bleed when he fell and Mommy Long Legs wasn't just packing ketchup packets when she got crushed. Like when they take out Poppy's voice box it looks like they cut into her flesh and her eyes look pretty real with tiny veins and realistic irises. Heck Experiment 1006 arm doesn't just have those bones (Ulna & Radius) poorly attached, they probably where a part if it originally and slowly it's becoming more machine than human.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but in the musical memory, the word "coquelicot" means poppy in French. You can find the word when the game starts adding more buttons btw. I dunno if this means anything but I just wanted to point it out since it's a bit unusual to find a French word in a game that is *mostly* English.

You should talk about the beta ending where she sounds much nicer. I honestly feel like she is not meant to be evil according to the chapter 2 beta ending. She supposed to sound innocent and sound like she wanted us to stop the evil in the factory or something unless she is still being manipulative. Anyway you can find this ending in a debug prototype found in the game files.

You know, you should listen to the original dialogue that Poppy says for the ending. You can get a previous version of the game where Poppy says extra things for the end. There's a video on KZbin that has it. It's very lore filled

More info here, thought I'd mention since you brought up the Stanford Prison Experiment that... said experiment was not just unethical but also not properly done as far as science goes. Essentially, the guards were extra cruel and were even conditioned to act as such. Even one volunteer was actively reprimanded for not being cruel enough for the role. The consequences of these "findings" which were deliberately altered for the specific result that they sought for has had devastating consequences on how we run our prison system in the US that have lasted even to this day

I havent seen anyone discuss the fact that Poppy is clearly shut off from communications by something... the "what are-" like "what are you doing?" maybe talking to 1006, he might be interrupting her and she either is attacked or he cuts off the feed to make bigger plans with her.. the noise that plays when you pass out, is the same noise in the background of the prototypes tape. which begs the question, How is he behind it all and is he evil?

My theory, what if when poppy said we’re capable she meant as in the reviving power. What if we was involved with a tragic accident in the factory, then to save our lives the engineers/whatever revived just as how they did the toys. I had a thought while watching your playthrough of chapter 2 that might make an interesting theory: what if the one that sent the letter to the player was actually Kissy Missy? It makes more sense to me since Poppy was trapped in the case, and we've seen that Kissy is, at least for now, trying to help the player reach our goals. Plus, she's been shown to have fine motor difficulties, which could make for the bad spelling and childlike writing on the letter. Just something to consider while we wait for the next update!

Tericho, as a psychology minor, the most relatable experiment to me (for this game) that created the reason we have experiment ethics is actually the Milgram experiment. This occurred in real-life before that prison experiment, by the way, The idea of this experiment was to see how many people would follow the orders of an authority figure, even if it would kill someone else - (not literally but made to look realistic enough to get most people to believe it). Basically, Milgram wanted to know if that "just following orders" statement Nazis used was accurate for society at large - sadly, it appeared to mostly be accurate (according to said study) But the brain-washing the humans-turned-into-toys might go through is to follow authority figures to a degree (i.e. the scientists).

Ethics boards are generally only for experiments on humans, and sometimes for experiments on chordates but for the latter the standards are much lower. It’s possible that they just claimed that the R&D was only developing toys and that any deaths were workplace accidents.

I think 1006 is absolutely working with a bunch of the toys (not sure if Poppy is part of this but it seems plausible)! In his first tape, the scientist mentions that 'cooperation and coordination are within his skillset', which implies that he must've been able to rally a good amount of the experiments somehow. But he also, at the moment, doesn't seem to be a fighter. He was still 'missing' in that tape despite there clearly being screams in the background and while he's mentioned to be quick to violence, he so far has only been confirmed to have attacked one scientist (and even then only because he ambushed them and they couldn't run away). He's also had several chances to attack the player but continues to choose to hide in the shadows instead.

I think Poppy was the first one, and they tried to replicate her experiment outcome with 1006. Then in the process, they also made Huggy Wuggy which according to one of the tapes is obedient and an optimal outcome of the experiment.

the easiest way that she could leave the factory without changing forms is if she simply asks if we can take her home with us. it's more likely that poppy wants us to put an end to all the madness in this factory because that's the only thing she could mean when she outright said "we'll set things right" you still need to explain how that sentence could mean anything sinister and then your own theory will also be entirely possible

Can I point out the similarity between Poppy and FNaF character Circus Baby? Both relatively helpful with calming voices in the beginning of the game, both betray the player at the end. Both have the same motive, wanting to escape. I'm not sure as this is entirely coincidence, as Poppy Playtime has a bit of a history of referring to real life and other games. Just a bit of a thought, no hard evidence or anything, just speculation.

My theory on what Poppy meant by her dialog is allot more literal and simple, really... 'You are perfect. Too perfect to lose.' Note that the word 'Lose' can have 2 meanings.. The first, 'You're too perfect to allow to escape' and insert your theory as to why here.. And the second, 'You're too perfect to lose a battle against the prototype.' The main abomination that's running array who must be destroyed. When we first met Poppy, she was kind and helpful because she truly did want to escape with us at that point. But when she seen how amazing and 'capable' you were in killing Mommy Long Legs, she knew she had to keep you here to bring down the entire host of abominations. To set them all free. To set things 'right'. So the plan changed. Does this make Poppy 'evil'? not to me. She was someone who was once human who wants liberation for herself and those like her. If i were her, I'd want the same thing .So the plan changed.

What if most of this was true that the toys were once human, but imagine if all of this actually didn't mean anything and the whole "abandoned factory" was to imprison experiment 1006 who was actually the player. Everything we experience in game was actually just an elaborate way to keep us from escaping containment again. The tapes and the Claw were all just something to tease and titillate the player to stay to allude to something great threat but in reality it's all just a massive red herring to keep us from discovering the truth. What if the first containment breach caused some kind of amnesia and just assumed the idea that we used to work at this "factory". Everything was going fine until chapter 3, Poppy was meant to keep the train going to a different part of the prison but the failing brakes and the train crashing is an unexpected wrench into this convoluted lie

There's something that you might like to know: Prior to the train crash, there was actually a deleted, fully recorded audio that Poppy was supposed to have. In the audio, Poppy's monologue was longer, revealing various information pertaining to the plot that was ultimately removed from the final game. Here's the full, unedited quote: "You did it! Against all odds you defeated Mommy. And you freed me! Once again. You are perfect. Too perfect to lose. I'm sorry. I cannot let you leave yet. You have so much potential. Something key to point out is catbee herself. Both in chapter 1 and 2 she plays a big role. In chapter 1 she is the toy we make to acess the huggy boss battle. In chapter 2 unlike the others, she activly tries to warn us and goes out of charecter even is she says shes joking it's strange to see that unlike the others only her, poppy, and mommy ever change or say something key, she tells us to leave. In both chapters she is the toy we pressumibly see the most dead even in cctv. Catbee is probably more important than she seem's

I feel like Poppy lured mommy long legs on purpose. Possibly she wanted to observe the player's skills as they used to with the children and needed a way to still have plausible deniabibility. If the player performance was suitable then she'd be able to use them.

I'm of the belief that Poppy had no idea the other experiments even existed; she says she was in that case for a long time, so it's possible she may have been put there before the other experiments even started. And if you think about it, if Poppy was aware of the other experiments, she probably would have been much more careful. If she knew Mommy Long Legs, or knew about her, then she would have known that standing that close to the pit was a bad idea, since Mommy is so flexible and could reach her. I feel like she definitely was aware that *something* other than toymaking was happening in the factory, since she's, y'know, a living doll, but she probably wasn't aware of the extent these experiments went. She did get cut off before she could finish her sentence when she was grabbed by Mommy, but it didn't seem like a warning. More like a reassurance. Your point about her realization still stands, though: after we rescue her, she's probably had that realization that the experiments that brought *her* to life continued after her imprisonment, and now rather than wanting to escape, she wants to destroy the unethical experiments that presumably started with her. This would also explain her shift in behaviour; her endgame dialogue almost seems dazed, like she's not quite sure what's going on. Like her mind is preoccupied with something else. At the beginning of the chapter, she's much happier, and significantly more childlike. But then she witnesses the full extent of the horrors that Playtime Co. enacted. In short, I don't think Poppy knows about the other experiments. But that doesn't mean the other experiments - particularly 1006 - don't know about her.
