Also thank you for being responsible and honest about how much work and maintenance it is to properly care for her. Very responsible. Because there’s a lot of people who might think it’s super cute to have one as a companion but not realize just how much work it is. Heck even with dogs many people don’t realize the commitment and it’s not fair to the animals. So I appreciated that on your part 🖤

Totally agree with you! It's so refreshing to hear such honesty. I would love to have a Poppy and being retired I would have the time to give. But listening to Poppy's human companions I realised it would be too much for me.

So true. Also to take into account that each prairie dog is going to have their own personality. Poppy is incredibly bonded to her human and trusts him entirely. A big part of that is her personality. Another huge part is the fact that her human absolutely loves and adores her. That is so very obvious and beautiful. The situation is unique. I’ve had the urge for a Poppy, but realize it’s best to just watch these awesome Poppy videos and vicariously enjoy the sweetness and love. ❤❤❤

So true. Poppy is super cute she is gorgeous I love watching all her videos. Her human mum and dad absolutely adored her and take good care of her. She is one very lucky fur girl. It's true she must be a high maintenance but the reward is precious. I praised her human parents for taking their time to look after her as she must be quite a handful.😊♥️

Sometimes i think people put too much salsa on the taco. I can see they are destructive and high maintenance and being social animals need lots of attention. However, I notice whenever couples do not have children and have pets…they make it seem like its mission impossible. I would definitely suggest people make their own decisions. Because having a prairie dog is not as high maintenance as having a child. Anyone that wants a pet that requires next to no interaction then get a rock. Or a Gold Fish if you want to slightly step it up. I know any single mom would say its a lot easier having a Prairie Dog than raising a child. When and if these 2 have kids they are going to see what high maintenance is…and probably be telling everyone not to have kids. But i do tip my hat these 2 do take great care of Poppy. But people can have prairie dogs and not have scheduled photo shoots, social media channels, and beg the prairie dog not to chew the couch 20 times. Just like my child i would tell it no once, or twice and then back into the cage if they cant listen. 20 plus times saying no…the Prairie dog owns you.

I used to have a ground squirrel I rescued when she was a baby. She was near death, but I took her home and gave her a bath, which she loved to get rid of the critters who were sucking the life out of her. Nursed her back to health, and she was great. As she got older she started becoming aggressive. She'd have moods. Long story short, I had to release her to a rehab because she became even more aggressive, territorial, VERY destructive, and she gave me a nasty bite, which she never did before. So, I had no other choice but to give her up. It was a sad day, but her happiness was my main priority.
