I honestly feel like calling it the "dank memes anime" is a bad comparison. The anime was basically absurdist shitposting, but it's not really similar. Like the show did stuff like playing with its audience and stringing together parodies of other media, meanwhile dankmemes makes 50 versions of the same "joke" about Logan Paul filming a dead body in the forest.
