The city is nice and scenic, not bad at all, but being Luxembourg the richest country in the whole EU I thought the city would look more sophisticated and stylish, it would look richer, it would have more modern infrastructures, street furniture and utilities (even garbage containers would be more modern; by the way, there are recycling bins there?)... And better kept from what is seen in some parts on the video...I don't say it for these works: e.g. 08:24

There is a big construction work going on for the new tram. Luxembourg has been very poor until the 20th century. Many emigrated overseas. Luxembourg has never colonised other countries. Luxembourg was farmland until iron ore was found in the southern part and steel industry (and railway) developed. The development of the service sector with the banks came much later; the beginning was in the seventies.

Out of all the Schengen countries you've visited, which ones would you advise an international student to study, work, live and migrate?
@poptravelorg2 жыл бұрын
Hard to say as migration is only encouraged from non-EU countries for high tech jobs. Africans may have an easier time in France/Belgium, Brazilians probably in Portugal and Spanish speaking South Americans surely in Spain. The further you go east from Germany / Poland / Czech Republic / Hungary there will be fewer dark skinned people traditionally with potentially more racism towards visibly foreign people. If one gets a good job/university and can afford the costs, I'd say Netherlands is one of the more easy going places in Europe - everybody also speaks English. There are high standards of living also in Scandinavian countries though the lack of sunlight during winter can be tough

How do you afford to travel so much?
@poptravelorg5 жыл бұрын
I traveled on a small budget and many videos here were filmed without sleeping in these places. In this case - Luxembourg - I slept in a ca. €25 hostel in Trier and took a €9(?) day trip ticket to Luxembourg and back (= 2 videos with 1 night accommodation). Cooking your own food, public transport (buses mostly), off-season travels and sleeping in dorms it is rather affordable .. when you can manage that. The amount of videos I made this year (200+ - 125 posted) to start this channel was mostly possible because I've been to these places before - when I had a better budget and more time. Revisiting these places for video was good fun and exercise. I sometimes could do 2-3 video per day ( I had nothing better to do 🤗). All these walks are then mixed timely on the channel so it stays a bit more interesting as post 2 or 3 videos per week. I'm still working on getting a website and maybe other channels up to fund the travels and go slower with better accommodation - hopefully sometime soon. KZbin ad money currently is not enough for so I surely work on other things

Luxembourg is Known as the richest country per capita but it looks like a normal european country from everything i have seen about it like this video,can someone explain how rich is it? What big jobs most people there work at? Their economy etc
@user-fw3hu9tv2l3 жыл бұрын
Everyone works normal jobs, supermarket, banks, law, schools, etc etc. The “typical” job would be banker. Salary is pretty high for any job, qualified minimum salary €2000/month and average salary is I think around €5000. Very large employers are Cactus (supermarket), CFL (trains), Amazon, Goodyear (factory) and a couple others. Biggest reason why GDP/capita is so high, it’s because of cross border workers. Luxembourg has huge service industry (banks, administration, headquarters, EU stuff, etc). Maintaining this needs many workers and Luxembourg population alone is not enough. Also prices are high, so many people decide to live outside the border and drive to work in Luxembourg (small country) every day. This means that a big art of the GDP is produced by workers who do not count in per-capita-calculations. Hence, bigger GDP per capita for Luxembourg.
