You have no idea the depths of memory this has unlocked for me. I hope by God you can find Clovis, Sunbeam, Courageous Girl, and Jolly, and then the early coaster bus era drivers to help you unlock the story of the bus evolution in Jamaica. This is amazing 👏

There were some shorter buses with the door in the middle some people called quarter million in early 90's. Those were on the Lawrence tavern to Kingston route for a while. Jah know! This video touched my heart. I went to Castleton Basic School and all age/primary too. I grew up around the junction. Sun beam was the bus to get to school. I can't forget when Herby ran off the road with the large bag of gold $1 coins just below Golden Valley, St. Mary. From then, that section of the road was called Herby corner

Real good times,people were kind and honest, conductors,sidemen and drivers were like family, buses were like Post Office where you could send mails, parcels etc with the conductors and all was well.

Those days were good times. I am going to share something,like in my childhood days we use to identify the different buses by the blowing of horns, so from you hear the horn, you know which bus is coming.

I remember caution air brakes on the buses. Didn’t know what it meant exactly. If Jamaica now was as peaceful as then, it would be the best place to live.

I remember Sun Beam. These country buses struck me as being very difficult to handle. To change the gears sometimes would be hard, the buses crowded and hot - no a/c - and turning the steering wheels was a herculean effort - bound to build up your biceps
@paulennis8521Ай бұрын
kareems: My family did own 90% of the land in Enfield.. i use to take sun beam bus from downtown kingston to the country every summer some Christmas holiday... so i knw all about that area where the bus turns around in Enfield that area call 41...I can tell you all the history of Enfield.
