Maybe the sweetiepies were supposed to resemble the animation people who force shows to have that Calarts protagonist be likeable, and the moral is how that doesn't work for this show, after all the "sweetiepies" turned out to be awful people.

The fact that Mao Mao is actually faithful and loyal to all those people even if they bring him down is surprising yet upsetting. Shows always have to have this like-able quirky character so people keep their attention on the show, it doesn’t have to be that way. Glad Mao Mao realized at the beginning of that episode that he doesn’t need people to like him to feel good about himself. If he speaks up or talks about his feelings he’s seen as a monster. Seriously love how much I can relate to him
