Scott and David make a great team for these videos. I would love to have a band saw like that Rikon for resawing. One is on my list of future major tools for my shop after I save enough to install a mini split.

I've been considering getting a large bandsaw, not only for resawing but also for ripping down lumber. My concern was not being able to make a straight cut without a lot of drift which would be counter intuitive to my motivations. Thank you for these videos, because I now see that this idea will work out, instead of using a table saw with which I feel uncomfortable around.

For those watching, the tips that stood out for me was have the right tool for the job, go slow, slower than you think, and don’t try this without experience and knowing your woods and how they react to milling.

The average diy woodworkers would not have heavy duty bandsaw like this so would not be able to undertake re-sawing such a large piece of hard timber but interesting nonetheless.

1/32 differential is significant from front to back and it appears there is an even greater differential between the thickness of the top edge thickness and the bottom edge. For my money the set up was poor.

I commend your effort. But really you should never be getting burns on a bandsaw like that. If you are that means something is wrong. Not just the speed or tension. It means your blade is dull or you need fewer teeth per inch or a different rake angle on the teeth. You should be using a carbide tipped blade for that with a 2 tooth per inch or less.
