This is an excellent video showing how a gull will take advantage of the situation to ambusg other gulls, and enforce territory against other rouge gulls. This gull in the video does not eat the bread straight away. You'll notice the gull attacks non-flock gulls as soon as they land. I would assume if this territory has food place on it, the resident gulls are well aware and will vigourously and intelligently keep other gulls away, ambushing any rouge gull or interloper.
