Lynton/Lynmouth, one of my favourite stress buster ride destinations. Some wonderful choices of routes to get there, apart from the fabulous A39 stretch from Minehead there's Bampton - Dunster or Wheddon Cross- Dunkery Beacon- Porlock or from Simonsbath across the moor, all lovely but best in the off season. There's a reasonably sized bike park space in the car/coach park by the bridge in Lynmouth(if you get there early enough) and the cafe there is very good

The roads were sensational. We didn’t film much of them but they were fun. Okehampton - Crediton - Tiverton - Dunster and so on, amazing ride. I have been to Lynmouth a few times, and always think it would be better out of season, like most of the prettiest places. Many thanks JRM 🙂👍🏼

Great vid, SB. I've ridden the A39 Porlock/Lynmouth/Valley of the Rocks road many times and never tire of the fantastic scenery. You were lucky to have a straight run up Porlock Hill as it's a clutch smoking exercise if you get stuck behind a slow vehicle. Go Pros etc. never show how steep Porlock Hill really is.

It’s just stunning along that coast, and some terrific roads getting there. We got lucky with the bus coming into Porlock. That blocked the traffic from the left, leaving us with a clear run. That kwacker sounds so good. I test rode one and couldn’t cope with snatchiness or close gear ratios. Got back on my 99 vfr 800 cam driven and was back in love with her but a Z is beautiful looking sounding machine. Had to get a more comfy bike at 63 after lowering footpegs and bar risers. Had an Nc but sold as soul less imo. Looking over winter but want smallish weight bike with leg room at 6’1 and no bend❤. Like th3 beemer but too heavy and ubiquitous. Maybe a v strom 650 or new Africa twin 800 (if it exists) or xsr 700. A smaller framed friend 66 bought my vfr and was an avid sportsbike fan gsx1000 rr’s but says the vfr is best all round and most comfy bike he’s ever had. At 23 yrs old virtually immaculate and totally original
@Saddlebags73 Жыл бұрын
Just found this comment, sorry. I’ve heard lots of complaints about the snatchy throttle, but I can only assume that they vary bike to bike because I’ve never had an issue with that. The close gear ratios, yes that I did notice and it’s a little peculiar. Then sixth gear is like going up 2 or 3 gears. Trying to find the right bike is like searching for something to watch on Netflix. We’re spoilt for choice eh. VFR’s have, and always will be a bit special. Not that I know from personal experience. Honda have made some beauts though. V-Strom’s a good choice I should think.

We have A roads, B roads and unclassified. ‘A’ roads are major routes between towns etc. They are sometimes dual carriageways, B roads generally link A roads, and unclassified are the lanes going into the sticks. Then there are M roads, motorways which are 3 lane. I avoid those when I can, but good for covering ground 👍🏼
