This porn addiction recovery process is very tough because porn is so easy to access and I have no-one to be an administrator on my computer but myself. And you are absolutely right about irritability and cravings. My mind has a tendency to replay porn images over and over even though I don't want them.

There's so much to this particular addiction. It's far more powerful than most people realize because the levels of dopamine are HUGE. So the cravings and withdrawal are very disorienting. It's got to be taken seriously. One thing that can help is time out in nature. Forest bathing. Focus your mind on the life you deserve. The balanced healthy and peaceful life you deserve. Remind yourself: "I deserve peace and health. I deserve connection." I make these suggestions as a supplement to getting therapy and finding a support group and all the usual steps. Not instead of those, but more of an "in addition to" for those with whom they resonate. .

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and suggestions. You’re absolutely right-porn addiction is often underestimated, and the intense dopamine surges it creates can make the cycle of cravings and withdrawal incredibly tough to break. It's so important that people take it seriously, as it can affect both mental health and relationships. I really appreciate the strategies you’ve shared, like spending time in nature and using affirmations to focus on the life you deserve. Practices like forest bathing and reconnecting with peace and balance can indeed be powerful tools in the recovery process, especially when combined with therapy and support groups, as you mentioned. Every bit of self-compassion and mindfulness can help reinforce the belief that recovery is possible and that a healthier, more connected life is within reach. If you're interested in more tips on the topic or if you want to explore my video library, you can use my AI: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes. Your insights add valuable depth to this conversation-thank you for contributing and for emphasizing that these practices should complement professional help. Take care, and I hope these ideas resonate with those who need them.

@@DocSnipes Thanks for your thoughtful and comprehensive reply. I agree with the "all in" approach you mentioned bc there's no telling what will work for each individual. That said, it seems to me that there's no substitute for professional counseling and group support. Humans are such social animals that going through it with fellow travelers is VERY powerful on a primal level. To me addiction is prompted by a crisis in meaning and porn is really about loneliness and lack of meaning. A holistic, community-driven approach with counseling as the cornerstone is key. Thank you for making such a meaningful contribution.

Thank you for sharing what you’re going through. It takes a lot of courage to be honest about something like this, especially at your age. It’s not easy to recognize when something is having a negative impact on your life, so the fact that you’re aware and want to make a change is a huge first step. Getting stuck in a cycle like this, especially when it started so young, can feel overwhelming, but change is absolutely possible. You’re already taking the right steps by seeking out resources and looking for ways to quit. It’s important to be patient with yourself as you work through this. Recovery isn’t always a straight line, but every bit of progress counts. You might find it helpful to reach out to a trusted adult, counselor, or support group that specializes in helping people break free from these kinds of habits. There are also strategies like finding healthy distractions, setting boundaries with your screen time, and learning to cope with the urges that come up. Remember, you’re not alone, and there are people out there who can support you through this. I’m really glad you found this video and are starting the process of quitting. Additionally, if you're interested in more tips on the topic or if you want to explore my video library, you can use my AI: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes. You deserve to have the freedom to focus on what really matters to you, like your schooling and your future. Take it one step at a time, and keep believing that change is possible-you’ve already shown that you have the strength to start this journey.

I've prayed for several years to stop. As of September 4th of last year, I almost had a panic attack after PMO and because of not wanting to ever induce a panic attack again...I stopped after doing this over half my life. I knew something scary had to happen for me to stop. Trying edibles the month before opened the door to panic attacks. I feel like my prayer was answered through this. I am still going through all the issues listed in this video as if she is talking about me personally, but I can also see things slowly, slowly lifting in a more positive direction though it is very slow.

@DocSnipes
@DocSnipes Ай бұрын
You’re definitely not alone in experiencing brain fog, anxiety, and constant exhaustion during recovery. These are actually quite common symptoms, especially as your brain and body adjust to new patterns. Recovery can be taxing both mentally and physically, and it takes time to regain clarity and energy. Have you found any strategies or routines that help manage these feelings? Sometimes small changes, like improving sleep or finding grounding activities, can make a big difference over time.

Thank you for watching the video. While pornography can be highly addictive due to its impact on the brain's reward system and the lack of physical consumption limits, it is not necessarily more addictive than drugs, nicotine, and alcohol combined for every individual. The addictive potential of any substance or behavior is influenced by a multitude of factors, and it's essential to consider the unique circumstances of each person when addressing addiction.

As part of my treatment for prostate cancer I’m on a hormone suppression drug. Haven’t even thought about porn or sex for months. It does have side effects (hot flashes and some fatigue) but I wonder if it is something that can be used temporarily to break the cycle? As with drugs (cocaine, heroine, etc.) addiction breaking the cycle for 30 days while getting into some new activities seem to be a help to some. What are your thoughts?
@DocSnipes
@DocSnipes 25 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m glad to hear that you’re exploring ways to navigate recovery in a way that supports both your health and well-being. Hormone suppression, especially in the context of cancer treatment, can reduce libido and sexual thoughts, and it’s interesting to consider how this might impact recovery from behaviors like pornography use. In some cases, a temporary reduction in libido can provide space to focus on developing new, healthier habits and coping skills, much like the initial withdrawal phase in substance use treatment. However, it’s essential to remember that true recovery often involves addressing the underlying emotional and psychological patterns connected to the behavior. While the hormonal change may give a bit of a “pause” on urges, engaging in therapy or structured recovery programs can help uncover and heal any root issues that may be driving the cycle. Combining these approaches can lead to more lasting change. Have you found any specific activities or practices that are helpful replacements during this time? It’s inspiring for others to see how different tools can support the recovery journey.
@pmh1nic
@pmh1nic 25 күн бұрын
@ I think the biggest change is there isn’t this mental/physical drive toward the pleasure, the temporary “high”, that comes from pornography. You know it’s not going to happen so you ignore whatever might have been a trigger to do something else. The something else could be any normal activity (reading, watching TV, researching something on the internet, etc.). You’re not pursuing something to replace the arousal that is now out of reach, but something else that you enjoy or find interesting to occupy the available time.
