Your wife is very calm when you're driving at speed. If I was driving that fast my wife would be screening SLOW DOWN followed by may be an expletive. Great travelogue. And the car looks great.

Thanks 👍 She's a good passenger, 25 years of learning to trust my driving. My mum always said remember you are carrying precious cargo. Hence why we didn't go above 150mph as things happen VERY fast then, often very bad things :)

I love your road trips, I used to go over there a lot but haven’t been for a very long time, did you have to get a Crit-Air thing for France or were you able to just nip through, does Belgium and Germany have anything similar? Maybe the countries you’ll be taking us to next? I can’t wait for the next “episode”, thank you, Ken
@volkswizard Жыл бұрын
Thanks Ken. Much appreciated. I've looked up crit-air as never heard of it before. On the last trip I realised belatedly that the round green stickers in German cars represent their emission class and I think you should have one even if you are in a car registered elsewhere if you go into certain cities. Not sure they are heavily enforced though. Next episode is Germany/Austria/Switzerland/Lichtenstein/Italy all in a few hours!

I thought that sound at the end was your timing chain or something - thank god it was 🐄! As much as I loved your Boxster, I love the manual here. Oh, also, you’re looking more like Richard Rawlings (Gas Monkey Garage), every day! Hope you’re all well and best wishes to Kate’s mum.

You’ve got some great roads down there but we are very lucky in Europe. I think the awesome landscape has been responsible for the cars that are made, definitely the case with Porsches

Weissach footage great - nice to see a gaggle of Porsche’s if that’s the correct term also love an early Polo as we didn’t get them in Oz until later series. Love the roar of a 4th to 5th upshift & whilst sounds different from your GTS love a good manual box. Looking forward to part 2 🏎🎯👏

I'm loving the content with these road trips and making notes of places to stay, visit and routes taken for my 2024 European trip. As an Australian I get 90 days (Schengen countries), and currently researching car rental versus train travel. As a driving enthusiast I love the idea of sweeping mountain roads and driving through different countries and being able to stop anywhere any time. Probably will split between some driving and some train. Very much looking forward to part 2. Cheers.

Hi Andrew and Kate what a great video of your road trip and you have certainly travelled in style in the Porsche what a car and sound! Great to see the Audi neckersulm factory I love the old NSU stuff so great to where it was made is NSU mentioned much there now? Some lovely places and scenery along the way as well definitely must go back to Germany so much to explore there hope you both travel safely looking forward to the next one daniel

Nice trip Andrew, I am sure the one of the SST's in the Air Museum is the Russian TU 144 their copy of Concorde. The GT4 sounds very nice
@volkswizard Жыл бұрын
Thanks! That's even cooler than Concorde! GT4 sounds nice but 981 Boxster GTS was so much smoother and tuneful but could be a bit too loud at times.

If you are not going to track it the GTS 4..0 is probably a better car? I have a GT4 PDK and it is a great track car but if I didn’t track it the GTS 4.0 would be a better road car?
@volkswizard Жыл бұрын
I might track it one day but regardless - need to drive back to back but I recall GTS 4.0 was annoyingly stiff and turbulent, GT4 isn’t exactly comfortable but it seems to deal with bumps better because its suspension is a lot more sophisticated. Tyres are an issue with GT4 but I actually want less grip in wet so I can play with rear slip at slower speeds, only standing water is a problem & you just slow down - frustrating when crossing Europe. Cup 2s hit mpg though. Prices are very close so you don’t save much with a GTS 4.0, if you did it would be a tougher choice.

What a great video.. taking us along for the trip is a very cool thing to do. Love the new GT4... as a fellow (for you previous) Boxster GTS owner it's v interesting to hear your comparison notes. Weissach stuff v interesting, we did a trip there like 20 years ago on a "Porsche Backstage Tour" looks way different now. Really loving this content, a firm subscriber of your stuff now - keep up the excellent videos
@volkswizard Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much👍The aerial view of Weissach is mind boggling, especially the test track. Would love a tour but would probably be a lot longer than yours 20 years ago!
@allynwithington Жыл бұрын
@@volkswizard The tour we did included a blast around the test track with Porsche drivers in a then new 996 and 986S Boxster, and we even got a spy of the unreleased Cayenne. We stood in the wind tunnel with a covered 997 prototype. Camera's were forbidden at all times. It was an amazing experience.
