What a bit of spot welding kit! Made me smile when you named the inner gusset The Witches Hat. Great. Looking forward to section 4.

Serious amount of work gone into that right side… just shows you need to strip right back on cars of this age rather than a short cut cosmetic restoration - nice work again.

😲 wow! I knew it was rotten in the other vids but that just looked daunting with the whole side removed. Awesome video! Nice touch that it was all cut out and replaced in one installment, I liked that. Top job 👍🏻

It looks scary but it was really only 3 panels so a lot of progress happens quickly! The front is going to be more of a jigsaw puzzle as we didn’t by complete flitch panels (due to cost!) glad you’re enjoying the videos, please share them with anyone you think might enjoy them 👌

@@classiccarrevivalsofficial started to binge watch all your videos. I did some rust repair on my 912 years ago- but am an amateur. Luckily my was nowhere near this bad. You are basically making a new car. Had NEVER seen someone remove the whole heater tube- so nice to see how it all goes together.

England colonized every country on Earth. Every country now has rust. Coincidence?!?! That is too funny though. I wish every country would stop salting their roads. Bad for vehicles and bad for the environment.

Great work and amazing insight to the innards of these vehicles. Interesting that the seatbelt mounting point is different to the 911 and that there is a heater outlet on the side! I wonder why they bothered with that.

I think some of the changes are year specific changes rather than model change. But I agree, it’s hard to understand why they change some of this stuff some times!

Another mind blowing demonstration of gold standard restoration, quick question. Is that a SWB car? If so how did you get the correct rear inner quarter panel. With the torsion tube I’m looking for short wheel base torsion tube repair pieces. Seems the ones I see are for 69-73. lwb. Also are you getting these parts at heritage in uk. I’m in the states thanks dave
@classiccarrevivalsofficial3 ай бұрын
Thank you 🙌🏻 yes it’s swb and the panel is 65-68 from Porsche. Most of our panels came from Porsche, design 911 or Euro car parts. Hope that helps!

I never held a welding torch in my life, but feel I'd do better work than the previous ' repairs' . Who does your blasting and do you favour any type of media ?
@classiccarrevivalsofficial6 ай бұрын
Anyone can pull a trigger on a welder but it’s everything that goes along with that that matters. Panel prep, fitment, welder settings, even grinding is it’s own skill! We use ABS blasting who use various media depending on what they’re blasting. Olivine, slag, bead and walnut shell generally.

Be curious how many hours will be spend on rust and body..surprised that this car is getting such an investment eps since its a 912...great work of course, just not seeing the economics!
@classiccarrevivalsofficial6 ай бұрын
I expect it to take 300-400 hours for metalwork alone but it’s tricky to tell at this stage. Full prep and paint will be another 250 hours. Economics don’t always make sense, we build a lot of cars where the build cost exceeds the end value but for most of our clients they just want their dream build. Buying a brand new car doesn’t make good economic sense as it depreciates year on year.

can you tell me where to buy new parts for Porsche?
@classiccarrevivalsofficial6 ай бұрын
Most of them come from either Design911 or Porsche themselves
@lukasmatzinger4 ай бұрын
@@classiccarrevivalsofficial Design911 has a great selection but terrible prices, I'd suggest looking at other sources. I have no affiliation with any and mostly use Rose Passion as I am in Austria, but in the UK I'd check with Type 911, Heritage Parts Centre, and even Ebay.
@classiccarrevivalsofficial4 ай бұрын
@@lukasmatzinger Euro Car Parts also do the Dansk range at competitive prices. I don’t mind design 911 too much as I get discount
@lukasmatzinger4 ай бұрын
@@classiccarrevivalsofficial Sounds good Deano, makes sense to shop around a bit as prices can vary widely for the exact same part, and it's not always the same supplier that has the best (or at least competitive) price.

All this work for a 912 ... don't understand. Just scrap it. Now a 911S, etc. well worth saving but a 912 => no. I guess the owner lost their virginity in it or something
