I was surprised, it really does sound better. It might get a little annoying off-throttle if cruising home late at night, but I think it's something most will put up with when saving so much money vs the sports exhaust option

I just bought a 996.2 in 2024, and the exhaust sounds amazing. I didn't know if it was original, as I've never owned a Porsche before. When I took it to the shop for an inspection, they told me it had a Gundo hack, and to look it up online. Here I am. It sounds freaking awesome. Every time I hit the gas while driving I get a huge smile on my face.

I have a 996.1 and enjoy the previously installed GH, especially warmed up at about 5k RPM’s. Before warmed up it’s a little loud getting out of neighborhood but overall I’d say more fun than foul.

I recently purchased a 2002 C2 and showed this video to my mechanics. They were skeptical about the mod and did the hack anyhow. It sounds amazing! They were blown away by it. They said they would be offering this to their customers going forward. Well worth the money.

Yes...it sound great & a cheep mod, but try not to fit the bypass pipes to the tailpipes Paul, because you can't adjust them afterwords or take them off if needed. Sommerfeld Tuning Germany welded the bypass pipes on my car previously on another set of mufflers before the tailpipes with no problems & unfortunately it wasn't the case with this mod Paul. You can't adjust or centralise the tailpipes in the rear bumper, nor you can remove the tails if the car needs new mufflers. Just for future reference for anybody...

I have a 996 3.4 Carrera Manual and it has this mod, albeit inside the muffler cans. It is a fantastic and very legitimate sounding upgrade, and it serves to show just how much fun there is to be had with the 'dreaded' (did I write that) 996 Carrera !!!

Great idea, and so inexpensive! I have seen the E90 V8 M3 mod where the perforated tubes inside the standard muffler are changed for solid tubes. Looks standard from the outside but what a difference in sound .
