Left handed drill set is your friend!!! The other option is to get a proper machine shop to drill and tap oversize and helicoil it. OR machine oversize, press in a new piece of ally and then drill and tap a whole new thread and seat.

Hi, thanks and yes, I had thought about helicoil but I will see how things pan out with it later. 👍 I really need to live on to other jobs now and the calipers will happen in the background.

G'day yes drilling them breaks is a difficult task but there is a difference between ya I give it a go attitude and taking pride in your work. Its hard to find people with pride in there work these days thats why I like watching you do work mate you take pride in your work and it shows.

Understand your frustration, that attitude is everywhere. You may be ok with the threads, the bleed nipples don’t need to be tightened too hard. I was worried that they have drilled too deep and damaged the seat for the nipple.

Thanks, yes, time will tell. I need to crack on with more spreading matters but will come back to the calipers later.

Bleeders are the worst! If they drilled too far in and damaged the taper, that would be a real problem. Surprised that in Germany, it is so tough to find people to work on Porsches! They should be everywhere!

Hi, I am living in Dresden, which is in the old East Germany. So Porsches haven’t been around for as long as the rest of the country. But still, it’s not rocket science.

They make repair kits that you can tap with a pipe thread and then insert a tube nut that the bleeder then fits into. I’ve done it on bmw brakes. Some high end calipers use that setup by design.

I think you will still get correct torque with new nipples . You can buy another nipple next size up re drill and tap As you already have been told it’s also the seat that counts .

I wonder if there's a larger thread available for bleed nipples? You could then tap them out larger but it's the seat down inside that's the really important bit, if that's been scuffed with a drill I think you're on a hiding to nothing. Other option is a Time-Sert thread repair.

Hi, that’s a good thought. I have used time-cert on the brocken header bolts. And it worked perfectly well.

Bigg Red Brake shop in Worcester or Pro Calipers in London.. Would have done the job for you without issue..

Yes, I have heard of big red and I am sure they would have done a great job. But I used a local company I stead.

You want references from those doing the work prior to handing over the parts. And ask questions that cannot be answered by a simple yes or no. I.e 'out of how many aluminium brake calipers have you successfully retrieved broken bleed valves?'.' Ask questions how they will go about when hitting a snag and how they prevent certain mistakes that will leave you with a useless part and a bill. It's not a guarantee that you will find a professional but you will quickly identify the bull crappers
