Great idea on the upside down bolt on the muffler bracket. I did exactly the same last time I took them off and definetely makes the job lot easier in the future. I've been putting off this mod but finally motivated to do it. I will do it myself though. I also have an '03 C4S but in seal grey and with 2010 C4S 10 spoke 19' wheels. Great video!

Looks like you have the Gundo hack. Fister does replicate the PSE type pipe without the valve which was his first type mod. Then the Gundo hack (some guy in NJ) came along with the short pipe between input and output pipes that at higher RPM allows more than 75% bypass. At idle it drops to about 30% bypass. Fister started doing the Gundo hack after he got requests for it so now he does both. There is even a combo of both hacks but I’ve been told it’s redundant as it can cause weird mid range power loss as exhaust flow from two ports can cause backflow issues. I have the 2” pipe Gundo hack and it’s very loud at WFO. I’ve got a video of the sound on my page of the sound it makes on the track and another in my garage parked. Cheers.

@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 6 жыл бұрын
Glad it helped you! I would think he can ship to Australia, however it probably won't be cheap. I'd suggest giving him a call. You could probably save some money by selling your current stock mufflers locally and just paying the non-core price for a set of Fisters, rather than shipping your current ones all the way back.

@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 9 ай бұрын
I've never heard the cargraphic one so I can't speak to it. But, I can say that Fister was awesome to deal with, and the sound was absolutely wonderful. Plus, since it is basically a stock exhaust system, it didn't have any negative impact on resale value of the car. If/when I purchase another 911 I wouldn't hesitate to go with a Fister exhaust again.

Do you have any update on this? Did you get tired of it?? How is everything holding up? Thank you for the video!
@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 6 жыл бұрын
Hey James. I never get tired of it - it sounds awesome and I rarely listen to music now as I prefer to hear it. When you're just cruising and you need it to quiet down a bit, just roll up the windows and drive a bit less aggressive - that's what I do when I need to take a call. As far as holding up, I haven't inspected it but I see no reason why it won't last as long or longer than a factory muffler. Darin did a nice job of cleaning it up and painting it.

not sure if my computer speakers are destroying the comparison but i barely hear a difference?
@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 5 жыл бұрын
Probably speaker related - try using headphones. I can assure you the difference is incredible (in person) and if you're looking for a more aggressive sound without going too loud and making it annoying to drive, this is a great solution. EDIT: At idle it is almost the same, the big difference is only noticed when you're giving it gas or wide open throttle - you will get some nice burbles and pops at low speed in parking lots though.

Fister same as Gundo? Also has anyone modded just one side?
@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 Жыл бұрын
They're very similar but slightly different. It has been years since I've looked into it and my memory is a bit fuzzy. If I remember correctly, Fister is a partial bypass between the inlet and outlet of the muffler. This is how the PSE Porsche sport exhaust worked except it had a solenoid to turn it off and on. Gundo cuts a new port in the muffler and runs from there to the outlet. Since the port is coming out of the muffler, all exhaust goes in. However the Gundo port is at like the halfway point of the exhaust flow in the muffler. So nothing bypasses the muffler, but some exits early. I personally have never heard a Gundo exhaust. I absolutely loved my Fisters though - would highly recommend. A perfect balance of aggressive and throaty but tame enough to drive daily and not be annoying. As far as doing it on just one side - I don't know for sure but I personally wouldn't recommend it. My understanding is that back pressure balance between the cylinder banks is important.
@ScottSanderz19
@ScottSanderz19 2 жыл бұрын
So if I already have PSE, Fister can mod it so it’s louder than when I have PSE on, or does it just make it so I don’t have to hit the button to turn on the PSE?
@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott. Best to call Darin at Fister and ask. I’m pretty sure the Fister mod is louder than PSE because the bypass avoids the muffler completely. PSE is a pretty desirable and somewhat rare option though, so if you have it you may be lowering your resale value by modifying or removing it.

How much, doesn’t affect CA smog certification ?
@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Sean - it depends if you use your own mufflers or get new ones (I believe they start around $300-400). Check out the Firster Motorsports site for more info. As far as smog, it shouldn't have any effect. Nothing is changing except for the routing around the mufflers, Firster are based in California so they can give you all the details.

Great video - seems like the mod + cores is almost $1k, at that price it seems like you're close to getting a CBE, but I haven't done a ton of research. Nice video though, great job explaining it and showing the sounds.
@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Josh. You're right, it ended up costing in the 1k range with shipping once it was all said and done because I didn't have suitable cores. I considered some aftermarket exhaust options that were in that price range, but ultimately settled on the Fister setup because it is very close to the factory PSE, is extremely well reviewed by other 911 owners, and gave more of a growl and less of a bumblebee sound.

isnt this just the gundo hack? You can get someone to weld the pipe onto your existing exhaust.
@charlieaf92
@charlieaf92 4 жыл бұрын
Not quite the same, but very similar results. The gundo hack branches off the closed off port for a whereas this connects the inlet and outlet for a partial bypass. You can absolutely have a local shop do this, however my core mufflers were rusted and I wanted them from Fister.
