This was a difficult but rewarding build for sure. We started off smooth but soon realized we were gonna need the right tool to get this job done, so we rented a slide hammer (Go tool rentals!), and it popped right off!
The grease was fun, but it was definitely a MESS. (See my arms after the first CV joint) That stuff is not your average dirt, let me tell you haha.
But, after all that, these things look AMAZING. Probably my best power-coating work so far, and these things are definitely made to last! The safety wire will make sure of that! Also check out those safety wire pliers. Weren’t they awesome?
OK so I just learned this. @914Rubber makes the safety wire bolt kit where they drill the holes in the bolts for the safety wire application. I was wondering why my old stripped-out triple square 8 mm bolts did not have the holes in them. Now I know. Safety wire bolts began in the aviation industry over 50 years ago to help keep propellers from falling off. Now it is widely used in motorsports and available from 914 Rubber… Now I know
