This was a fantastic project. I saw the car before and after the restoration, as Road & Race do work on my cars. They are fantastic restorers and did an outstanding job on this car. OK So now for some info. If you watched (and listened) to the video you will have heard the car was used after Le Mans by someone and altered and had been damaged. The drivers at Le Mans said there was no damage on it when they handed it back. So the car had a different engine and lots of damage NOT caused in the original race. So restoring it was the correct thing to do. Also VW never built this car. The original 924 had an engine designed by VW but the car was built by Porsche. And this car has nothing from VW in it. This is a race prepared Carrera GT! Please know what you are talking about before commenting.

Cliffhanger!!! I want to see the car being started up, and maybe even driven. Will there be a part two? Tough decision to restore or conserve, but if the car is not original anymore, then I think you took the right decision. Fantastic to see craftsmanship, passion, and a no compromise attitude to this restoration. I wish it could be a bit more like this when restoring my old Mx5 :D

Shouldve left the body in its original paint with all the battle marks. Ruined IMO. Now it just looks a replica. The former told a story. What a shame.

Did you even watch it? That wasn't the original patina.

Tugboatpb did you mean paint?

"Patina" is such an over-inflated hipster thing... the car was busted up, unusable. They made it usable again. They retore paintings from the great masters and no one say "oh, they ruined it! It looked so kuch better with all the coal dust stuck to it!" A few scratches and nicks, you can keep, but a ripped off front, not patina anymore...

This car was out performing 911’s of the current day. It was that fast! Another reason that Porsche stopped developing the 924 model. The big wigs said that it cannot replace the 911 and the 924 was Axed.
