Cool video Lane...944 is righteous....now tell us in next update...what you paid for the car....what you paid for in repair and maintance over the time since you purchased it...very cool that you put in photos and maybe a video or two of the rally... Looking forward to the sept 17 th rally go pro video ...

Sick video Lane! I love the way that Flowmaster sounds on your 944. I honestly did not picture it sounding anywhere near as good as it does. Great work! Dave

I really do enjoy your videos, good positive information that takes nothing away from the integrity of the car. Years ago I had a 67 targa, 996 c4 and now the 997 4s and cayenne TT. I now have a fixer upper 86 944na that doesn't seem to run as strong as yours seem to run. I really enjoy driving it but know that it's still lacking in performance. Maybe I'll start posting as I go. Keep up the great work and documenting, it give me hope that mine will someday be a much better car.

Great looking car, I have a 1983 944 with 99,000 original miles. did everything from clutch, to timing and balance belts, to a new radiator and a bunch more. It was a father son project last year, Im only 21 but I love these older Porsches. Love the sound, thats exactly how I want my car to sound, is that a flowmaster series 40 original or flowmaster series 40 delta flow? awesome job on the car!

Hey DWA, your 944 Project vids are terrific and contributed to my pulling the trigger on my high school dream car - a pristine 30k single-owner yellow-dial '85 944. See BAT auction that ended on 10/26. It should arrive in Redwood City (just down the hill from you) in a week or so and I'd love for you to see it. I'd also like to check out your badass guard's red 944. Lemme know if you're game and we'll hook up, maybe meet at Alice's. Or, you could film the enclosed trailer delivery to my house from Illinois;) Thanks for the educational vids and cheers!

Tasteful updates; Love your channel.. Has your Reference Sensor given any further trouble since you replaced it 2 years ago? As I recall, you didn't use a shim to position the sensor depth.. Overall, how much $ have you now invested in your Porsche? Sounds great too man!
@Drivingwhileawesome8 жыл бұрын
+Lifeson Fan Thanks! The reference sensor hasn't given me any additional problems, but I did end up replacing the 2nd sensor about a week after that video was made...that was the one that needed to be shimed. I ended up making a ship out of a washer. I have no idea how much I have spent on the car, but it hasn't been cheap. Most of the work that I have done, has been maintenance and standard old car stuff.

How do you manage your wheels? The exposed aluminium on mine oxidise very quickly and could easily become pitted if left. Is there anything special you use on them? Also I noticed in the pictures from your rally drive, that you had some considerable brake dust build up on the fronts. Is this a normal amount of build up for you, or was it because you were driving longer and harder at the rally? Keep the videos coming...

awesome video, ive been following this build for a while. Wanted to know how your shock setup feels. I'm planing on getting the same shocks all round and wanted to know your opinion? thanks
@Drivingwhileawesome8 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan D'Mello The shocks feel great. nice dampening without being too soft. I do need to get bigger torsion bars in the back though because the rear end feels a little soft. I would also like to get a bigger aftermarket bar in the rear. That being said, the car handles amazing and I really like the Bilsteins.

Great Video! about to replace my exhaust as well on my 1988 944. I was looking at the Dansk exhaust. Did you look at that one as well before you went with the Flowmaster? Just curious on you thoughts about them both if you did. Thanks!

+Alan Simmons The Dansk looks to be a great setup. I have had really good luck with Dansk exhaust systems on my previous Porsche 914s and 911s.

how much can I get a 944 for? and what websites are good as search engines? good vid! I'm a rotary owner but really digging the old Porsches
@ridge90668 жыл бұрын
Search Tempest/Auto Tempest are great for searching craigslist. You can get a nice 944 or 944S for 5-6k. Decent Turbo's and S2's go for 9-14k. Below 4K your looking at a car that needs some work. Buy the nicest one you can find/afford. Porsche parts can get expensive. I have a 1985.5 NA that I purchased for 2.5k. It had a blown head gasket and snapped timing belt. I rebuilt the top end and came out with what has been a fun reliable daily driver for 5k.

should i buy a 944 as my first car?
@Drivingwhileawesome8 жыл бұрын
+hannes something Probably not. I would recommend something a little cheaper to maintain. My first car was a VW rabbit and that was a great first car. My third car, while still in high school was a Porsche 914...that would be an awesome first car as well but they are getting pricey.
@meep61888 жыл бұрын
+hannes something timing belt for my 951 is $700. had to buy an engine mount $168. have a bunch of little things like, only the heat works and at full blast, seats wont adjust, have some leaky seals. these are all things I can afford and know how to fix, if you are willing work on the car, (there's tons of write ups on all the maintenance and fixes for common problems) and have money for maintenance then go for it!
@hananas28 жыл бұрын
