the s2 variant was my dream car back in 1990 and still is today. Your black/linen combo is the unicorn spec. Thank you for caring and keeping these vehicles around.

The S2 is the best version of the 944 in my opinion. Any sacrifice of power over a 951 is made up for by the superior driveability of 3.0. This is a stunning example of rare and under-appreciated Porsche.

I just came across your video and it was awesome to watch. Great review on the car. I have a 91 cabriolet black interior and black exterior. I live in Mesa and you are the first person I come across that has a cabriolet in Arizona. Beautiful car you have.

Great video. Thank you very much. She’s a real beauty and I can see why you love driving her. I’m in two minds about whether to get the 3.0 or the 2.5 Turbo cabrio.

Thanks for your comments. I think you’d be happy with either one. In NA it’s not really a choice because the Turbo Cabrio never came to NA. Thanks for watching.

They are Boxter 17” Turbo Twist wheels. They are pretty easy to find at a reasonable price. I originally bought them for my 928 which I eventually changed for Cup II’s. The Turbo Twists look way better on the 944! Thanks for watching. If you’re interested you can see my whole series on my 928.

With all props to your aftermarket radio's flexibility with inputs/sources, the equalizer would give you far better control of the sound in the car. "Presets" tend to have extreme curves exceeding 3-6 db at any given frequency and simply screw it up worse than the music would song unadorned. Plus, the fools that came up w those presets had no idea what your speakers were made of, the shape or dimensions of your car, etc. I picked up an '05 Chrysler Crossfire with stunning cd playback 15 years ago. When I tested different aftermarket upgrades, any amount of money or hardware chosen yielded poorer sound. I ended up doing without AUX inputs or MP3 playback and switched the whole system back to stock. With a well-recorded cd the sound was JAW dropping.

When I made O-6 in he Navy, the same year I turned 50…I bought mine (Baltic Blue with same linen-color interior), with 43K on the clock. I was a fan of the Cabrio when seeing a pristine one in Polar white with Navy blue interior, on the pier in Norfolk VA. Once onboard, I found out that it was the XO’s car. He had bought it after going through a nasty divorce! Fast forward to 2004, I was stationed in Newport RI….I “cleared” it with my current CO (my wife), and I started looking. I passed on three vehicles, before finding mine, in Tampa FL….owned by a Marine LTCOL. Advice to anyone considering one? #1. Be willing to arrange for AND pay for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection)? I always did….and as I said, I passed on three cars!! AND don’t assume that a modern Porsche dealer can do an adequate PPI on these older Porsches (go figure!). #2. Buy the lowest mileage model you can find. #3. Always ask for the car’s maintenance records. Hopefully, the seller will have them. I was the car’s 3rd owner, and luckily, I have records including the original Moroni sticker and Bill of Sale. And finally, #4. Maintenance? Adhere to the recommended maintenance schedule, and if you are good at “turning a wrench” you can save significant money. I no longer work on my own cars…I used to, but I haven’t the patience, wherewithal or adequate space in which to work. But be advised, maintenance can be expensive. I budget for that each year. Regardless, I’d rather drive mine than work on it; I do the “simple stuff”, but pay for the more involved items. And anyway, mine is stored from November through April as I live in New England. This is a great “introductory” video…so nice job, amigo. Bravo-Zulu, we’ll done. Wishing you many “smiles with the miles”!

@captaincoyote1792

Hi, Pae. I commented on this video and made some recommendations….I’ve owned mine now 18 years. I paid $12K for mine. Mine still has barely 80K on the clock, and I think I could get $18,000+ for it right now (these cars are increasing in value). So $15K May, or may not be, a good price, depending on the required maintenance and car’s general condition. Many of the 944s have been “rode hard and put away wet”….so please be careful, and if nothing else, have a good mechanic familiar with these cars, do a PPI. Good luck to you!!
