While it's a nice car, we can all agree, whoever "restored" it for Mr. Reynolds needs to be better with details: 1) It's got the Pontiac W72 (400 CID, 200 HP version) hood scoop decal, but it has the Oldsmobile 403 under the hood. It should say "6.6 LITRE". The VIN gets the win and confirms it: 2 for Pontiac, W for Trans Am, 87 for two door coupe, K for 403 CID V8 with four barrel, Oldsmobile produced, RPO code "L80", 7 for 1977 model year, N for Norwood, OH assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Norwood plant closed in August 1987. The hood scoop decal mistake is often made as the reproduction decal companies include the "T/A 6.6" decal in their kits and make you buy the "6.6 LITRE" decal separately. Most don't know, some don't care, and others do it on purpose. But it is incorrect. 2) The parking lamp bulbs should be 1157NA natural amber, not clear and one of them is out. Ditto on the taillights, some bulbs are burned out. Easy fix of course. 3) The emission decal under the hood is missing. I wonder who "restored" it for Mr. Reynolds, as they could have taken better care of the decals. Also, Mr. Reynolds was given a Trans Am by GM for a time every model year. When they stopped coming one year, after coming for a few years after the agreement, he called GM and politely asked about it and was told bluntly by a GM executive, "Oh yeah. Well, that deal was the lifetime of the president, not yours. And, he's dead" and promptly hung up on Mr. Reynolds. Pretty poor PR, I'd say.

Wow. You picked up on a lot by watching the video. You are correct on the details. Thanks for watching!!

@@CENTERLANE I'll bet that one of those "mega restoration houses" did it for Mr. Reynolds. Those places aren't known to pay really good attention to all of the details as they should.

My first car that wasn’t a parental hand me down was a 4 speed ‘64 Monza convertible. I drove it to the Woodstock festival overloaded with 7 people. Later we had a 4 speed ‘65 turbo hardtop that tended to pop out of 3rd. In those days I never had money for tires. We ran around on 4 mismatched used tires. I always take a second look at any Corvair I see. Is it just me or are early sixties cars poorly represented at car shows.

The exact car my mom and her sister had in high School. Same colors too! They had a '53 that was in an accident and the insurance company allowed them to get a '54. Is this technically a Champion Starliner? I'd love to be able to buy her one (or lease if until she can't drive in a few years. LOL). If anyone has info. Thanks.
