Great video. and great driving. Everyone knows the capabilities of the GT3, but wow. Im really impressed with the Merc. You couldn't shake him. That new GTR is going to be big trouble

When Mercedes first announced and promoted the GT, they said that this "will be cheaper than the SLS and will have less power than the SLS, but will be a 911 competitor" I was thinking: Hell NO! But I was wrong. This is "just" the GT S and its exactly an the 911 level. The GT R beats that easy.

Well in terms of laptime yes, 911 range (and it better be with 500hp!). For the rest, I'm not so sure...

Something like Endurance? The GT3 can last 45min on track without stopping, I highly doubt that a twin turbo V8 can do the same. Maybe the Mercedes has others drawbacks, maybe not. But a car is not only a laptime. Do you know that the Nismo GTR can only do 3 laps of rings before getting out of fuel? That the first C7 auto gen is/was overheating after 1/2laps? That McLaren is asking a payable check-up prior each track event to not void the track warranty? Ect ect... Don't reduce a car to a laptime...

i always bring that points ...thats why P. is more expensive than c7....because it can last a lot more in track time than most of the car there...but you know people are just talking...more 90% haven't been riding the cars or track ever! so they will not get ya :) you are track warrior ...you talk to people that have never seen the ring from the inside....when i start visiting some local events i learn all about heating problems! turbo cars drop a lot of power after 2-3 laps....clutches gone-out...you know ...i hope one day i can get like your 991 gt3 all black on black (headlights too) :) with Akrapovic!

I don't want to use my gsm for this kind of application, so it's a big no! (And it's not that accurate!) OBD2 could be the answer.... Maybe one day! :D

The phone alone is not enough reliable. Combining that with OBD2 could be the solution, but as I said I want my phone to be "free" on trackdays! :D

I combine the phone with a 10 Hz external GPS receiver (QStarz BTQ 818) and an OBD II Dongle (OBD Link LX), both via Bluetooth. This gives you very reliable data. In addition HLT can control one or two GoPros as well. All synchronously. Not that bad... ;-) As I said, take one of my vids and have a look. All was done by the S5, HLT and the sensors.

I know your visual setup ;) But didn't know that you added an external gps! Then it becomes reliable. Still, I don't want to use my phone for this kind of stuff, and would rather use a dedicated system (well I already have my racelogic!).

Guys I owned both cars, both as a daily and same time at one point and tracked them. The GT3 on this video couldn’t shake him off because there were other cars. Watch again as GT3 always leaves the merc and is much tighter. You can’t compare the chassis of a 911 especially the GT range models plus the pdk is the ultimate gearbox.

Yeah I daily drive it! If expense is a concern, you can try some aftermarket parts!

Just ordered the 991.2, from the track specs it's almost the same as the GT3 (less the sound and sporty frame), decided to go for the next gen GT3 when it comes out with Turbos and upgrade down the road then. God I was tempted to get the 991.1 GT3 though, such a beast of a car

How the fuck could anybody want a GT3 turbo.WTF. If they build turbos in the GT3 engine. Porsche died for me. Buy the 991.1 Gt3 if the next one gets turbos. The old one will be more expensive

Looking back, I think he was focused on the Mercedes. So he went left to give him space... BTG doesn't matter with this kind of traffic, I don't even bother to accelerate at the end. But it would have been sub 8 otherwise!
