Do the lifters need to go back in order if you are using the old ones,,?

No they don’t! What you hear about that is people who have lack of confidence in engine building they somehow believe the lifter will go bad if they change position or location which is complete crap. The lifters will get oil flow regardless and if you was to have a failed lifter it was due to fail anyway not because you didn’t put it back in the right order. You can put them back anyhow you feel and you can’t mix them up as it’s impossible.

Hi. I need a BMW expert opinion for a question with the ZF auto gearboxes. Like the one on my E46/5 318ti. I'd like to modify it so there is no automatic upshifting in manual mode. Basically make it so you can redline revs, and still stay on the gear. I think this is a very useful feature for anyone doing any kind of fast driving. Or rather the forced upshift is just so bad, a liability, a safety issue. Essentially taking away driver control for no reason. Like you are almost good to go with budget drifting, but then you are going to fish tail into a wall because the gearbox hates you. Yes I understand a manual swap is necessary for "serious" drifting. But if you can make something cheap work for you with only slight modifications, then why not. I think a lot of people would be interested in a video guide of this kind.
