Porsche Boxster - Comparing Stock Exhaust Sound with Borla Cat-Back System

We installed a Borla cat-back system on this Porsche Boxster for a customer so we took some quick shots of what the car sounds like before and after. Which do you like better: stock or Borla sound?

Do you remember if you had a problem with exhaust drone? I have the same exhaust on my 2.5 tip and it drones like crazy!

Yes, most all aftermarket Cat Back exhaust systems will experience drone, and this was no exception.

I just got this Borla muffler for my 986. I'm curious, how the heck did you guys mount it up? Thanks!

theplayernkc IIRC we had to modify the mounting plates. They come with the 2.7 configuration.

Yeah I was wondering what the deal was. Borla's website is horrible on installation. Thought maybe I didn't get a bracket needed to mount it to the trans. I tried to drill out matching holes, but the metal is too strong and eats up my drill bits. Can you recommend what kind of drill bit I need? Thanks for the reply.

theplayernkc You might try using a titanium nitride step bit.

I don't think Borla knew what car they were making this muffler for. I looked up transmissions and none of them had this bolt pattern. Also the pipes from the muffler had too small of an opening and I had to take the muffler and get them opened up more. Freaking headache from start to finish.

theplayernkc Strange. We didn't have an issue with the pipes but the bolt pattern was definitely off. Maybe it wasn't for the 2.7, maybe it was for the Tiptronic? It's been a while since we did this install.

Yeah, they aren't straight pipes or anything, just meant to be a little richer or throatier.
