Porsche Boxster LS3 V8 conversion - "sport/race exhaust" :)

So. I did it... :D
Still needs some finish work but she works! Did a little test a few weeks back and felt like being an a-hole this week so I decided to pull the muffler system and make what my parents would call... "PIPES!!"

I own a stock well kept Cayman S 987.1. I neither fear nor welcome IMS failure, and now I sleep even better at night knowing that if the proverbial DOES hit the fan, there are "options". Some of which are cheaper than an engine rebuild, and that will reap better rewards :)

How did it run ,dose it carbon up ? dose it lower the temperature , just got my Boxster with 38000 seems to run a little hot on a hot day

+Guy Lipsky Hey Guy, No the car runs great, no carbon at all from what I can tell. It really is just a stock Corvette LS3 with a GM hot cam so the temperatures are good if not a bit on the cool side but can warm up on a hot day. I still need to sort out some bits on the cooling system and remake some pipes but no issues really. Thanks! J

one cheap trick is to install high power heat extractor fans(with switch)behind all the vents you got,did it on my Volvo on secondary bike battery.

Roadworthy I don’t like engine swapped air cooled 911’s but Subaru swapped 912’s are cool and any water cooled Porsche is fair game expect for the 928 or 944 Turbo.

my advice would be to focus on Switzerland and Italian Alps - even the Black Forest is totally congested. The Eifel Forest which is adjacent to the 'ring is great and Do include Spa Franchorchamps as it's close by and the roads are somewhat quieter in that area. If you're in France then a stop at Reims is evocative.

All depends on how you do it, but I would say at minimum $20K if you are handy as all get out. I bought everything new so mine was a bit more, right now i'm probably $38K deep give or take and I did all the labor myself. Thanks!

Is 38k including the car? A LS3 crate engine with ecu is $8500 and the full renegate kit with all the extras is around $7500. You can pick up a high milage boxster S for around $10k so I'm pretty confused how you would get in for nearly $40k if you're not paying for labor.

Who gives a f__k about balance and handling if you going to be in the shop every few days fixing something. And the parts are expensive as f___k plus they r hard to work on. Believe me I know a turd 💩 when I see one. German car manufacturers is really good at the art of "idiot finding " why you think you buy one today for 80,000 dollars wait a few years and it will be 20,009 dollars. GARBAGE IS GARBAGE

That is actually incorrect. Only need to drop the transmission to get to the IMS, a good tech can do the whole job in about 6 hours.

It is definitely not for beginners but not impossible, cutting welding, some fabrication. Lots to do to make everything work properly. Renegade says 130 hours for the swap - I have well over 300 hours total in the car. I have several hours of videos posted that you can check out if your interested!
