What all wires did you merge with the gm harness and color codes?
@random816Ай бұрын
I'm sure I've mentioned it in one of the videos although never broke down the "colors" You'll have to get a wiring diagram and figure it out, but basically get power back there, tach signal, coolant sensor I just used the Porsche one tapped into the GM block, Tach signal which I used an aftermarket box called "Tach Adapt". Fuel pump wiring is hardest as Porsche uses a positive ground lead so you have to rewire the Porsche fuel pump relay so the GM system triggers the fuel pump properly. Basically just strip out everything you don't need from the Porsche harness, connect the GM stuff and boom. Good luck.

Getting ready to start an LS swap on my 2007 Boxster S where do I go for the best and most information looking for a little advice thank you
@random8163 ай бұрын
That's awesome! Unfortunately there are not a lot of resources out there... I would start by talking to the big shops doing the swaps, Renegade Hybrids and Chavis Performance. KZbin is a great resource and you could also check over at the 986forums. Pelican Parts also have a swap forum where you may be able to get some good info. Best of luck with your project, hopefully I'll have another one to share soon!

Random question on your 986 ls build. If I wanted to put a lq4 6.0 iron block in it, with the renegade kit still work? Lq4 is a lot cheaper and I would obviously install the ls3 intake and oil pan. Thanks
@random8167 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm sure it would! There are other companies making parts now too so check around, I think a company called Chavis Performance is making some good parts too. Biggest difference would be the clutch flywheel so just check with Kennedy Engineered Performance I'm sure they make a kit for it. Good luck!

I'm sure there are some who would do it but none I know of off hand. We are working out of a private shop in Woodstock at the moment and are a few months behind but can put it in line with the other projects if you want :)

How did it handle in comparison to stock? I know LS engines are known for being lightweight for their size but I have to imagine it would be at least a little heavier.
@random816 Жыл бұрын
With the stock suspension you could definitely feel the car was overpowering the tired stock suspension. Once I upgraded to coil overs car handled amazingly!!

I am considering doing a similar setup to the Boxter LS3 swap. Planning to keep the Boxter manual transmission mounted in the stock location......swapping a Cadillac 3.6 V6.........as you have done the kit/swap.....what is your opinion......could this be done without having to cut the car up?
@random816 Жыл бұрын
It is very possible but without knowing the Cadillac motor I'm not sure. I was looking into swapping in the V6 Camaro motors for a bit and think it can be done, but it is a tight fit regardless... good luck!

Hi there I have a Porsche Boxster S with V8 How did you do the wiring on the dash to register the coolant temperature? I am Having hard time to make the gauge work Mine is the same year as yours 2000 Boxster S with la3
@random8162 жыл бұрын
I added a Porsche coolant temperature sensor to the chevy motor. On the cylinder head that does not have the GM sensor, it has a tapped spot for it on the opposite head. rill/tap it for a 14x1.5 thread pitch and add the Porsche sensor. Then just hook it up to the stock Porsche wiring. Easy peasy.

Seems like such an affordable,fun, great looking and amazing handling build. Porsche boxster with a affordable lightly modified 4.8 ls, 5.3 ls (for affordability) or if wanna spend more id love to swap a 4g63 turbo, bmw twin turbo inline 6, vw golf R turbo 4cyl or maybe even a stock mark 4 Vw Gti Vr6 engine.

Most of the mounting bits were purchased through Renegade Hybrids... Lots of good info throughout my videos and on the 986forums.com where I did the documentation for it... should be a direct link in the info section of some of the build videos... Good luck!
