As a fellow 981 GT4 owner, I can definitely vouch for its roadtrip credentials. With decently sized front and rear luggage compartments plus shelf behind the seats it is very ‘spacious’ for a sports car. The cup holders are the most over-engineered yet least practical - but will still hold the 300ml (or smaller) bottles of water. The GT4 is a fantastic car on those twisties - great to see it being driven and enjoyed.

Hey Eddie. Yep, spot on - the GT4 is a great all rounder. There isn't a road type (except gravel) that doesn't play to its myriad strengths. And yes, you're spot on regarding the cup holders. The industrial design tragic in me loves them but I just want a door bin or somewhere else with a dedicated bottle holder. Minor gripe though! I feel very lucky to have been able to take this car on such spectacular roads with great people.

So glad to see some new content! I did a track weekend in December, and my instructor had a blue GT4 in which I got to ride along for a few laps. Such a cool difference from my 996 C2. It had Cup 2’s, and cornered unbelievably well, and with hardly any tire squeal.

Picked up on the significance of the VIP Petfood flag Trev was showing, excellent little hint to the background of that car. More than happy for you guys to stick to the West Coast roads n stuff, and leave the even better roads on the other side of the island and around Launceston for us locals 🙂 I've been part of a little GT group that has a great time on our roads around Launceston......

Well spotted Peter! Sounds like we need to do some digging around the east coast! Although three days is possibly a bit limiting in terms of seeing everything.

12:37 Mental note… Following a bright yellow car is a great idea when you don’t know the road.

Great to see you enjoying the central and Northwest roads, next year head over to the east coast for some spectacular coastal roads. (It's usually a bit warmer and drier as well) 🙂

Heya Benjamin. Yeah, it's been a minute! The rallies are capped for numbers (for practicality purposes as much as anything). Always happy for people to jump in on a drive though ✌🏼

p.s. Tremendous effort on your GT4's AutoAmateur spec'd interior. You couldn't get any more deviated red stitching in there unless you had red lettering on your shirt. Rocking!! ;)

Mate you know how much I aspire to be like you. Deviated stitching was an obvious place to start.

How did you put the car through its paces at road legal speeds in Tasmania? Its not a theme park, people live and work there. Moreover, there are events you can enter with a prepared car including speed limited classes for beginners e.g. Targa Tas.
@lastrasp
@lastrasp Жыл бұрын
Hey AB. Yeah I hear that. There is certainly only so hard one can push on road at legal and safe speeds. So it’s not the same as a circuit for example where you could really push the car to its limit or even on a closed road stage. So I’m answer to your question I think putting a car ‘through its paces’ in this instance doesn’t involve pushing to the limit but equally, still enjoying the handling characteristics of these wonderful cars on wonderful roads.

Driving over double lines? Classy

We’re pretty careful with that sort of thing and drive within the limits within the lane but yes, you spotted correctly. Can only say it’s rare and certainly not on any blind corners.
