Very informative, thank you very much. Now I have another to-do to add onto my bucket list.👍

As industrial Germany is, the small towns, people and the culture they carry on their country make up one of my favorite European countries.

Thanks for commenting. This was only my second trip to Germany but I definitely need to come back again soon and see more! I agree that once you get out into the country the history, culture, and beauty come into their own.

Just booked a four-hour session in a 911 coupe for this fall. Wish I had more time and more days to drive it.

Enjoy your time with the car. I love mine but getting to actually drive one on the roads they were built for was really special. Are you picking it up at the factory/museum like I did? They provide some suggested itineraries I believe for those shorter rental periods, that put you on some fun roads.
@billeaton26513 жыл бұрын
@@GilbertTravels Yes, picking up at the museum in Zuffenhausen. Might lengthen the rental period and try for lunch in Rothenburg ob der Tober.

Are we allow to drive to the other countries per rental insurance policy? Can we get automatic version of the cars when booking online? I cannot find the info on Porsche's site, please kindly hope😂

Well..... I drove into Austria in this video and didn't have any issues. It has been almost 5 years and certainly even whatever rules were in place back in 2018 may have changed by now. All I had to do was buy a sticker near the border to enter Austria. That said, I made this video back then specifically because the website for the program was so vague and apart from one thread on rennlist that got very sporadic updates, almost no 1st hand information existed on the internet either. I believe all the cars were PDK (automatic) back in 2018, ours was. It isn't cheap but I also recommend picking up the "Porsche Drive: 15 Passes in 4 Days" book for more ideas. Beautiful large display book to own too. Have a great trip!

❤ Thx for the most informative video online even after 5 years😂 Gilbert, we plan to do a 7-day drive in October, but really worry that the car's small trunk will certainly not accomodate our large luggages. Did the Porsche drive staffs offer onsite luggage storage or suggestions to you? And I would also like to find those recommended routes ahead of time . They are again not available anywhere online...😂 We are thinking to go south like you did , but to Titisee instead, then turning westward to Strasbourg, France, then following the moselle river valley to Koblenz, subsequently driving along the Rhines river all the way north to Dusseldorf, and then finally back south to Porsche museum. We are from Canada, so the landscape in Switzerland has no strong atrraction to us. We think we will enjoy the river valleys lined with vineyards and great wineries much more.

@@youtubehand That sounds great. Strasbourg is beautiful, I was just there by train last year. We booked an inexpensive hotel in downtown Stuttgart for the entirety of the trip and just left our luggage there. You can reach out to the staff there and see if they have an option to hold luggage somehow, we didn't go that route so I am of no help there. I have a hilarious photo of our giant bags in the back seats with the top down on the way to drop off the car on the final morning, the only way they would fit. I do recommend the Restaurant Christophorus at the top of the museum, we had a lovely lunch there before taking off the first day. Aside, I remember hearing that at least in Germany the drinking laws are very strict and enforced, which was kind of a bummer not enjoying so much as a single pint in the countryside. Not sure how that is in France in wine country. Have a great trip, report back how it goes if you remember!

Pls share navigation road for this trip
@GilbertTravels5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment and request. Here is a google maps link, let me know if this works for you. It won't show navigation through Silvretta right now likely because of winter road closures, but that would be the bit of road between Partenen and Galtur. Frankly though I barely touched what could have been done with another day or two (or 3 or 4 or 5) in the alps. Furka Pass, Stelvio pass, would be two more you could accomplish with an additional day. Also look up the Am Plansee, another stop I was hoping to have time for on the drive back up into Germany. www.google.com/maps/dir/Porscheplatz+1,+Stuttgart,+Germany/Baden-Baden,+Germany/Freudenstadt,+Germany/Lindau+(Bodensee),+Germany/Mautstelle+Partenen/Galt%C3%BCr,+Austria/Neuschwanstein+Castle/Porschepl.+1,+70435+Stuttgart,+Germany/@47.9611164,8.4001372,8z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m55!4m54!1m5!1m1!1s0x4799da872be62f27:0xfe07aa200feddece!2m2!1d9.1525545!2d48.8342104!1m10!1m1!1s0x47971f4391f73145:0x630f291933f3c5c1!2m2!1d8.2285242!2d48.76564!3m4!1m2!1d8.1920523!2d48.5990953!3s0x4797261659c00285:0x5e1755155ae77865!1m5!1m1!1s0x47973400a1fc3059:0x41f6bb7a5df5700!2m2!1d8.4179988!2d48.4644796!1m5!1m1!1s0x479b0c36dec90e9d:0x4538aafa21612f80!2m2!1d9.6789333!2d47.5797815!1m5!1m1!1s0x47835478b2a13e11:0x12e794b3255cf9ec!2m2!1d10.0752689!2d46.9608606!1m5!1m1!1s0x47834d635784bc8d:0x99e5cd3e8ae2c718!2m2!1d10.1890842!2d46.9692523!1m5!1m1!1s0x479cf7cac44ea35d:0xc8a6866bd39dbba3!2m2!1d10.7498004!2d47.557574!1m5!1m1!1s0x4799da872be62f27:0xfe07aa200feddece!2m2!1d9.1525545!2d48.8342104!3e0

@@GilbertTravels Thx.If i understand corrrect in video...your rental period is 3days?Which limit km range for it ? What fuel consumption 100km?
@GilbertTravels5 жыл бұрын
@@4pingwin They will rent any period of time from a few hours to weeks. I chose a 48 hour rental, and timed it from noon on the first day to noon on the 3rd day so I could use the car over three days. Each rental period comes with a specific km limit (and per km charge for going over). all of it is laid out on the "Porsche Drive" website, and may have changed since I did this a year ago, so I suggest checking there for the most current info. It was plenty generous as I was basically behind the wheel nonstop until the final morning and had more I could have used. I didn't note an exact fuel consumption, but it wasn't extraordinarily bad, I always filled up when it was convenient and logical along the route.
