Just did an exotic car drive here and wanted to see what good laps look like. Their program is very restricted, and the track was wet. Happy to see 95 mph coming onto the front straight given the conditions, street tires, and instructor telling me repeatedly to keep 3 feet inside the apex. At least I got to drive behind the "ride along" car and kept him close the whole way. Now I really want to do an HPDE there...

Went to AMP yesterday it's mind boggling how fast you are in the corners, my car (stock M4 with PSS tires) felt like it was going to lift up in the air around the final long curve doing anything over 85-90... Time for some upgrades and will study this video. Thanks Joe!

Thanks for posting this. I was there last week in C5 Z06 and needed something to compare that to.

So how did you do?!

@@jjtravis I looked on my GoPro and had 1:42 laptime so you did well and your video looks like you are flying compared to my stock Z06 on old/well heat cycled RE71's.

You were cooking yesterday. Do you have any video of me in the Golf R? Mine is posted under M3BS1, but it doesn't sound anything like that!

@@jjtravis Oh, don't I know it. lol. Done plenty of track days on my former1000cc sport bikes over the years and raced motocross, now too old for that stuff and sticking with cars. Only thing is, this is a tighter / technical track for my car (tuned 991.2 Turbo S) but still should be a blast (using lots of caution on the loud pedal). Just learning the track, braking markers, apex's, and camber of the corners on video will really help me get up to speed quicker. Thanks again.
@jjtravis3 жыл бұрын
@@protectandswerve This track is tough on brakes and suspension more than most. That low dip has a tendency to F up some cars if not set up right and that long straight can cook brakes quick. Fresh fluid (high temp of course) is highly recommended. I'm hoping you've had that Turbo 170mph+ on the back straight at Road Atlanta.
@protectandswerve3 жыл бұрын
@@jjtravis Thanks for that advice. I am looking to get it to the shop for an oil change, brake flush, and possibly a better track alignment (just need to get some recommended specs). Haven't had the turbo on Road A. yet. lol. However I have been 165-170+ on Two wheels on the back section before the brakes down the hill. lol. Love that!! Tail wagging back and forth before tip in. I miss the bikes for sure, but cars are a different kind of fun. I'll take it easy on that down hill bump. It looks pretty harsh on video for sure.

@@jjtravis Just wanted to say Thanks again. I had a blast. This vid helped me learn the track quickly and then I had a good pace fairly soon. Here's an early session with me chasing my friend Mike (Diamond Member there) in his GT2RS. I was only on PS4S's with a heavier car (991.2 Turbo S) but found a good pace by end of day. Traffic was bad at time but still a Blast! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqW8foitnptjiJo

I really need to check out this course because it looks like a blast! And your car sounds beautiful (long live the 6!) I was surprised to see how much lean and unstable-looking the Boxster at the beginning looked. Is the course really bumpy or do you think it was just a symptom of a base level suspension?
@jjtravis5 жыл бұрын
AMP is tons of fun and great for the GT4. That Boxster S is bone stock, could use some upgrades. Thanks for the comment!

Hey Joe. do you notice a big difference between the pirelli slicks against Cup2s?
@jjtravis4 жыл бұрын
Those slicks bring a level of trust I’ve never felt in a tire. Incredible upgrade and probably better than anything you could do to engine or aerodynamics for better lap times. It’s hard to go back to a street tire after feeling some sticky slicks.

Yes. Different groups hold track days and you can drive your own car as long as it passes safety inspections and with a helmet.
